Phillip, the next time you shoot the Highlands Reserve, can you capture the south west corner of the project a bit? I know they have not started to build there yet but some of us home owners are curious how close this will be in relation to our homes. The trees obstruct our homes so it is hard to tell from past videos. Thanks

Philip thank you for doing this video. Our property is directly adjacent to the luxury apartments going in next to Highlands Reserve at Sand Mine and 27. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for our community as it was always rumored this would happen but not set in stone until a couple years ago. Seven years ago, when we bought our home, the neighborhood around HR was mostly open fields with light traffic. Our backyard was against acres of pine and palm trees and very peaceful. We are snowbirds from Cleveland that come to Davenport Florida to escape the harsh winter weather and we have made many wonderful friends down here over the years. Change is always possible and now it’s a reality. I am ready to embrace that change and hopefully this new road the County is allowing to go forward will make a difference for the communities adjacent to I27. Your videos provide me with some insight on how the progress is going while I’m in Cleveland. We’re soon to be able to see and experience the reality of the situation when we come back down in a couple of weeks. Thank you again for your videos! Mark

@@CaptDad77 Philip, I’m loving what you’re doing with the drone. We are arriving in Davenport on Monday Jan 22nd, which is just a couple of days away, so I’ll be able to see first hand the progress. Our house in Florida is a special place for me. I’m in a wheelchair dealing with multiple sclerosis now for 30 years. Winters and extreme cold weather are not good for me, nor is extreme heat. So, Highlands Reserve is my winter sanctuary. We have completely remodeled the house inside and out to make it barrier free and, when we are not there we offer it up to the public, especially those with similar disabilities as myself. I cant believe they make you build houses a certain distance apart and yet pile these together like its kidling for a fireplace! Unreal that insurance will tolerate that, THE ONLY THING MISSING IS LIGHTER FLUID AND HOTDOGS!

This sort of selective fire damage is the result of heat conduction from the primary source. the source of this localized fire was most likely airborne embers from a nearby source. you can actually see the area on the roof where the embers landed and started smoldering. I was a fire investigator for the US Navy for 10 years. Too me this screams of a large fire event that spread via airborne embers.

They said the water was shut off, so how could residents put this burn spot out and keep it from spreading? Were the surrounding homes inhabited at the time?
