Stuart! Thankyou so much for letting me know you posted this video in my comments. It didn’t show up in my feed! What an awesome trip you had- Lots of very interesting stuff there too! The cars were great but I really love your truck, sadly they don’t sell anything like it here in the states. Your acquisitions were on point- that Starrett level was a steal! The British made square came out fantastic. Isn’t it funny how even though we are on other ends of the world our swap meets look so similar. 😂👍. I swear some of the people look identical. 😃👍

@@357magdad Thanks Magdad, unfortunately no decent point things but I’m very happy with what I got. Re the utes, now the big US ute’s/ suv’s/ pickups are coming to Australia in increasing numbers we are spoilt for choice as long as you have the coin to pay for it. All the US trucks are converted to right hand drive locally in Melbourne. Toyota is currently testing the Tundra here. If it goes ahead Toyota will import them from the US and get the same Melbourne company to do the RHD conversion, The big difference is that if it goes ahead you will get full Toyota warranty and servicing at the local dealer which doesn’t happen with the other big three. I saw a new Tundra the other day as Toyota have a couple of hundred on the road all over the country for testing by bigger fleet buyers. I’ve got my name down for a test drive if it all goes ahead. Cheers, Stu.

@@ivanstiles7030 Hi Ivan and thanks for taking the time to comment. I watch a lot of the swap meets in the US via Scout Crafter and 357 Magdad’s channels and from what I see you blokes are way ahead in terms of quality, quantity and reasonable prices. It suddenly occurred to me recently that one of the reasons for this is the design of American homes. Over there it seems standard to have a basement and an attic which means things can be put away and forgotten about for years or even decades whereas here in Australia our homes are generally single storey without an attic or basement. That means that normally it’s the garage or backyard shed that gets the junk stored in it and an old shed is not the best place to store items long term as over time things get eaten by rodents and insects and they’re generally not damp proof. Cheers mate, Stu.

One of the lathe manufacturers put two small toe clamps on their chucks to clamp the Chuck to the spindle to prevent spin-off. You are so right, without a paper gasket behind a spin-on chuck it can be almost impossible to break loose. On a back-geared machine avoid the temptation to lock the spindle by engaging the back gear and not disengaging the pull pin on the bull gear. If you do, you are likely to discover how lathes end up with broken teeth on the bull gear or sheared off latch pins.
