I love the song. Ricky and the Redstreaks sing it as well and give homage to Hawkeye as the originator who is also one of the great saddle bronc riders of all time!!!

Sade, LL Cool J, Keith Haring, Sade all worked at Danceteria. And of course there was Madonna...the club's patron saint.

I was there at this showing at the Utter Theatre. Those from the cast that were able to make it were so much fun. Ha! there is Trixie. We were sitting by the door.

It's really such a shame that a creator with the level of talent that David Milch has cannot gain the level of appreciation that he so richly deserves. He truly is at the head of his contemporaries. I await any project of his with great anticipation.

Does anyone know who the 'mutual acquaintance' between Milch and Ferguson is? Meaning who is he referring to that said 'there is a slow unfolding' taking place right now?

And before people "neg me", I loved John from Cincinnati and wish it was renewed for a 2nd season. My point is, don't be surprised when good shows are cancelled. Thought-provoking shows tend to attract less of an audience because the average HBO subscriber is simpleminded. That's why the Sopranos went on for 8 seasons, and near the end it was just so boring it was painful. Tony's day-to-day life, him waking up, going to the Bing, etc.. yawn.

The fact is, it costs money to make shows. Bottom line. Entourage attracts a lot of viewers. You have to understand, the average viewer is not someone who would contemplate the metaphysical. They are people who like to see simple plots. John From Cincinnati was probably the most creative writing I've ever seen put on screen. I knew it would not last long because it simply wouldn't attract the bulk of audience Time Warner deems necessary.

"The idea is, we're gonna do two 2-hour films" Too bad Milch then ran off to do JFC and HBO was like ummm.. okay.. and released Deadwood actors from contractual agreements. And thus, goodbye Deadwood.

I also worked for Rudolf for a couple of years starting in late 1988 when he opened MARS nightclub on the West side. He was a great boss to work for. He was relaxed, he made sure everone had fun and he was cool as hell.

Danceteria was a great club. Though not located in the heart of the village... it was the heart of the village in the early and mid 80's. Thursday nights were HC/punk shows at CBGB and Danceteria used to give free passes to all the HC kids and punks, hundreds... just because they wanted us there for the atmosphere. Free shows for us punks, cool atmosphere and a chance to take home some Long Island girl. Great memories.

I totally agree, blueskies. John From Cincinatti always left me with a feeling of hope and artistic freedom. I'm saddened by TV viewers inability to be patient and thoughtful sometimes. And HBO needs to give Milch another season. But instead, Entourage (a show about media capitalism, corruption, and excess) stays on succesfully. Nothing against it, I just think we need something different as well.

I love this show and Milch is brilliant--compelling story, depth of characters, the way it's shot--it is worth multiple viewings from the start.

Was thrilled when I saw the rerun of this recently......Milch is a sweet and sensitive man who has struggled himself and has great empathy......my only problem with JFC is that he forgets that addiction can be pretty boring to the rest of us who put up with it, too......Butchie wasting his talent as a surfer is a big yawn....a one-note samba. Surfing is a closed system---no air gets in.
