This is discriminatory, racist, anti-science, delusional, evil and insane. This is a form of social engineering that will destroy the global economy. Neo-Marxism in its darkest hour. Why don't the pseudo-intellectual so-called academics who dream up this stuff get a real job, like scrubbing toilets with a toothbrush?

@5:29 _'It wanted to stay out of strategic entanglements beyond the homeland ... After 1898, beyond the Western Hemisphere.'_ Someone get this professor a map. The Philippines and Guam certainly are not in the Western Hemisphere. This is the elephant in the room, and he ignores it in the talk. Kupchan writes: 'The allure of internationalism prevailed, but only temporarily.' The US acquired the Philippines and Guam from Spain on 10 Dec 1898 (there was also a treaty with the Vatican to boot out the friars, who the Filipinos loathed) and remained there until the Japanese knocked them off from both in 1942. Does four decades count as temporary? American involvement in WWI as a declared combatant is a period of about 18 months for the navy and about a year as the first ground troops didn't enter the trenches until October 1917. That's temporary. But 40-odd years? Not temporary. I suppose one could argue that in 1935 the US and the Philippines agreed to Philippine independence in 10 years (Tydings-McDuffie Act of 1934), so the US would be walking away from an entanglement. But an earlier Congressional Act (Hare-Hawes-Cutting Act of 1933) had the US retain military bases there after independence, so the US would remain entangled with the country. It was the Filipino Senate that refused to ratify the first agreement. No such deal was made with Guam. Until 1950 the island was governed by the US Navy exclusively. It was the US presence in the Philippines and Guam that led to tension with Japan. The Washington Naval Conference brought up Japan's demand the US not build fortifications on possessions west of Hawaii.

People who never suffered discrimination demand reparations from people who never discriminated against anyone. Black Lives Matter ignores the fact that white perps are more likely to be shot by police than black perps. It is a series of lies, root and branch. It completely overthrows rule of law, and the principle of "innocent until proven guilty". It is now "Guilty, when accused, even before accused, if you did nothing." Just wait until these new rules are turned against blacks, hispanics, and homosexuals.

Interesting views but, I think you fail to see our own flaws. Human rights for example. Maybe check out Snowden or Manning leaks or read some recent history about WMD's(how many innocent people were murdered?), renditions, press freedoms and the list goes on and on. Does China tell us who WE should murder? Corporations will have the final say because they give money to politicians and then make shareholders money. BTW one China says Taiwan is a Provence not a country and so does the UN. Seems a false narrative is being pushed or straw clutching by Christine. No offense intended, you are far more qualified than myself. B52 bombs ETIM and we get lied to by MSM and corrupt leaders, weird that. Is the EU just another proxy state to the US. Must obey the law? like the law that made the South Sea Mandate?

We have three (3) branches of government. Presently, two (2) branches have a disagreement on how the country should be progressing. This disagreement is based on their interpretation of how they view and interpret policies that they have written based on their party’s ideology, which differ. Just because they have their differences does not mean they are wrong or write but just an expression of their political parties view. When you have two independent branches of government like the Executive and Legislative Branch you will have disagreements, just like in all relationship. Both parties have 100% authority to request that any process, law, or system governed by law that they differ be looked at and checked by another independent branch. The Judicial Branch is the Law of the Land that both the Legislative and Executive Powers have elected. The Judicial Branch has the constitutional power of judicial oversight between the two branches of government. They are all independent, however, the Judicial Branch has powers invested in them that is tied directly to the US Constitution and the interpretation thereto. The Judicial Branch and the Supreme Court Justices within have been elected as the Gatekeepers to the US Constitution by both branches of government. Both the Executive and Legislative Branch together or independently from each other can appeal to the Judicial Branch for final resolution and Interpretation of any US Code of Law that governs any policy or system that is created thereto by the Legislative Branch. At time, US Code, Laws, Policies, and Regulations that are made from the Constitution needs to be challenged, revisited, corrected, amended, or re-interpreted. Both Executive and Legislative Branch have every right and the authority to do so independently or without the others permission. Both can challenge each other and it is there duty to do so. The Judicial Branch has the sole and “inherent right” to interpret the law of the land, change the law of the land to fit modern day challenges. Americans are presently hearing, witnessing, and feeling the voice of our founders and have come alive. This is a good thing because American will bear witness to how strong the foundation of America is. All challenges must first be addressed at the lower courts and lower legislative body. This process was created to ensure all Americans will have their voice heard whether it sounds just or injustice. When the shouting get's real loud and all the lower courts and legislative powers presented their views in legal form only then can the two branches of government (Legislative & Executive) appeal to the Judicial Branch (US Supreme Court of the United States of America). The Judicial branch has the sole authority to interpret and pass laws based on the constitutionality and how it applies to modern day. What we are witnessing is something only talked about and studied in universities but have never truly experienced until now. My God Bless America!

America should get out of Syria, or it will turn into a much much larger war. Russia will not get out. Because if Syria falls, Russia is screwed. Russia cannot let Syria fall. And America is stupid to get involved there. America is dumb enough to think they can do another afghanistan to the Russians in Syria. Different story here. Russia has it's own foreign warriors to help it. The Iranians and warriors from lebanon are fighting on the side of the Russians. So Russians have learned the American game of using third party proxies. You think they haven't learn anything from their previous engagements. They are also playing the proxy game. And they got bigger and better players to help them than the Americans. Let's not forget, the Chinese are also helping with logistics, arms, and training the proxies.

I am baffled by NYU. you brought in one of the best brains of Ge-politics to opine. Yet, you chose a Political Hack (Dana Perino) to be a moderator. I would have preferred a Professor who could have had a meaningful back and forth with Bremmer. Dana Perino is just a "jouarnlist" (Spin Doctor) all she knows how to do is ask about headlines.

She did not challenged on Ian's prediction that Iran will be closer to the U.S in the long run than Saudis (I happen to agree with it). but she did not even have the knowledge base to make an alternative argument. She did not have the knowledge to challenge Ian on Chinese espionage question. for all intents and purposes a second year political scientist student would have asked better questions.

I am not sure if you have an inability to read carefully. My objection is not her political leanings (whatever they are). my objection is that she was chosen because she was imply eye candy. she had nothing of substance to say that any other political hack from nytimes, msnbc, cnn could have repeated. just standard talking points in Washington establishment. now you bring some body like birzinsky or Kissinger. I am gone probably disagree with them but the discussion would be intellectually rigorous.
