I'm a 58 year old high school history teacher from Portland and I am up in Seattle on a three day field trip with the high school and we are all at Pikes Market. I really need a bathroom break and on my way down to the phucking toilet I hear this angelic voice and the strumming of a guitar that reminds me of light rain... For those that know me, when it comes to "man or woman alone with guitar versus the world," I am incredibly persnickety and you have to really PHUCKING MEAN IT. Period. I can spot a turd a mile away because they are not playing for their phucking life. It's been years since I have met a young cat like this bloke. Mother was Dutch with a strong British accent, grew up in Europe and played in NYC for a decade and now resides in what was once a beautiful city. We talked and I am afraid I was overwhelming because it was SO wonderful to see this young man singing his heart out to no one...and then the phucking Sloppy Guitarist shows up...wet eyes, ready to buy that 25 dollar album...(it's soooo damn good) He was so sweet, kind, a gentleman, and lit with a fire that I can only recall yet not conjure. (that's okay by the way) Nikki Sudden, Billy Bragg, The Jam, Richard Thompson, Nick Drake and Roddy Frame may come to mind when listening to Leslie but his songs are all his own and his gentle subtle melodic delivery only empowers the incredibly thoughtful lyrics he so endearingly sings. It was a really special moment to encounter him just by chance. It may sound trite but it was magic. Listen to Robert Leslie if only to take a break from yourself. Put on the tea and pet your cat and be thankful there is an artist out there somewhere who wants you to make it to the party.

Nice music! Saw you first on a jameskalm video, he starts with a musician outside somewhere in NY, then continues to explore an art gallery keeping the sound blended for a while. You had the electric guitar. I don’t know what you think of NY, the gardens seem the same but when I looked for some places like Sin-é (saw video of talented Katell there) on Google earth I see only graffiti covered, deserted facades…. Are there still some underground venues for real music left there? Best of luck, continue full power 🌟 PS saw your setup on one vid, share some of the same effects and the tascam 414 😝

Thanx for tipping me off about that series, I had no idea! Sin-é has been closed for a long time, but NYC is still one of the very best places on the planet for music in spite of all the changes - underground/DIY stuff tends to be in Brooklyn these days, dedicated DIY venues are sparser than they used to be but they're out there for sure
