For some reason, this video gives the impression that in the alternate universe, Japan was an autonomous soviet republic and was regarded as the country's second most important socio-cultural frontier and foreign gateway into the country. It's probably like the utopian version of alternate Japan in Chainsaw Man lol😂 Joking aside, thanks for sharing cool obscure music out there🙏🥰

I already knew that soviet cinema was better than hollywood but fuck even their music was better than ours. How did they lose the cold war with how fucking godly their media was compared to ours. Soviet Union and its republics left us too soon.

I did not create this playlist to praise the Soviet Union and its time. I created this playlist to show what kind of music was in my country during the Iron Curtain and how it, in isolation, tried to develop and correspond to Western standards. Because of this stupid isolation in the USSR, underground music was in a very deplorable state: the party did not support them and canceled them, they had very meager equipment, a lack of high-quality and up-to-date instruments. The well-known synthesizers of the 80s in the USSR were rare and difficult to obtain. And the most common instrument in the songs of the 70-80s, Rhodes, is practically not heard in most songs of the USSR, and the fact that it sounds in Arai’s songs is generally beyond the realm of possibility. There was no capitalism, which meant that musicians could not fully earn money from their work, and there was only one label - Melodiya. If they didn't like something, they just didn't release it, which is why we probably lost a lot of cool songs or only have low-quality demos of them. Therefore, there is no need to praise the cruel regime, which did not think one bit about small nations and destroyed their cultures and languages. After all, even most of the songs in this collection are in Russian.

@n0mad_1465 I know the late Soviet Union was corrupt as hell and the invasion of Afghanistan was unjustified and horrible but if you want to talk about cruel regimes just take a look at everything the US has done since the end of WW2. My own country has fought endless illegal wars, committed dozens of gen0c1des, and has illegally stolen trillions of dollars in wealth and resources from smaller sovereign nations. From my own perspective, all the evil that my own country has committed since the end of WW2 eclipses any wrongdoing of the Soviets. I can praise the Soviets for their amazing music and cinema. I can praise the Soviets for destroying the nazi war machine in Europe. I can praise the Soviets for helping free the Asian and African colonies controlled by the european savages. I praise the Soviets not because they were cruel but because they were so much less cruel than the West.

@@n0mad_1465 обнимаю.

I didn't know anything about Kazakhstan, except that was part of the USSR until 1991, I enjoy the History of the USSR. It's a very interesting music, that one specifically reminds me somewhat similar to Bossa Nova. Yes, I'm from Brazil. 11:57 It's nice to discover music from very different and distant countries, it's like travelling.

The USSR doesn’t exist in the way it used to anymore, even structurally. I think its fair to be critical of the USSR, Stalin isn’t my favorite guy and I think he did a lot of deplorable things but I think western countries (I’m from the US) have a tendency to only see the bad so as to angle themselves as the good arbiters of liberal values when in reality our countries have also done some fucked up things too. The art we are more readily exposed to I think gets caught in the crossfire too though, I find myself so captivated by Soviet art but it feels very out of reach. So listening to this is almost time travel, time travel to a dead league of countries which are made mythical in that death.
