The reason this movie was released is because there is a possibility that Japan could become a battlefield again.…

All wars are similar in that starvation is but one source of suffering and death. This is happening in Ukraine as I type.

Suppress it! You don't know the horrible aspects of war. I've been through two wars and I know. I've seen cities and homes in ashes. I've seen thousands of men lying on the ground, their dead faces looking up at the skies. I tell you, war is Hell! -William T. Sherman

Brittney Snow was also the antagonist in Hairspray. Therefore I headcanon that Shizuku ends up in a show like that

I had no idea Ashley Tisdale did this beautiful masterpiece of a movie. She did way better in this than she did in high school musical, or anything else she was in (she was pretty good in Phineas and Ferb tho. I feel like voice acting is her thing). Brittany Snow did an AMAZING job as Shizuku tho, and she seems really sweet as well. She kind of reminds me of Shizuku a little bit

This movie gets me so emotional every time. I'm a 34 year old man. Its the fact that they struggle and all the time the girl is still trying to be a kid. She will never have memories of someone who lived a long life. Her life was cut so short. And her older brother has to bury her.

A very powerful story and it's true. That's the saddest part.
It's not clear but it was either starvation or disease. I personally think it was disease because people were leaving food for him to eat at his side. He may have died from drinking bad water like his sister who succumbed to dysentery.
does anyone know the song at the beginning?very touching movie

I don't get it why didn't he go back with his aunt they could have survived xc at least the little girl
@breakdancer1008 жыл бұрын
I think that's why the movie was so good. The characters are human. They are fallible. Living with their aunt made them miserable, so they took their chances living on their own. It just so happen that that led to them starving to death. It completely reflects us as human beings. We don't always make the best decisions. We try our best and that is all we can do. The great thing about them was they at least loved each other very much until the end. So even in their last days, their journey in the unfortunate circumstance they found themselves was still a life well spent, short-lived as it is.

This is a must watch movie. It is about war to a point but it is more about a brother and his little sister and how they try to live in a war. The setting is japan but it could have been set almost any where in war torn Asia or Europe. It is such a lovingly sweet movie yet so earth shaking sad at the same time. The sadness can scare some away but like life you have to take the pain and sadness to enjoy the happiness. It is a movie to watch with a best friend or relative that is special to you. If you like to hide your emotions then best to watch this alone. It is an extremely powerful movie that will make you more touch with your emotions and likely your loved ones too.

i don't understand why this kind of movies never gets an oscar? :(
Because they usually don't come out in America and if they do it usual dub. I don't mind having to read the subtitles but if I can get a version in English I rather do it that way.
@rakkatytam6 жыл бұрын
Honestly, its because it wasn't made by Hollywood. All the oscars are is an excuse for Hollywood to jerk itself off. So the best this film could get is best animated or best foreign film.

yeah. First movie to actually make me cry. Like really fucking bawl. (First game: To the moon) But such a great movie, Imho the best anti war film because it shows war not as a place for heoric men and women to prove themselves, but as a place of death and despair and of the effect war has on the ones weakest.
