Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

“We, at the Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of the Diocese of Wheeling- Charleston, are a diverse community of the poor, the disadvantaged and hungry, the well-to-do, the youth, elderly, visitors and those seeking refuge.

As a community of many cultures and races, we stand for unity in our diversity by expressing our love of God the Father through prayer and worship, through service to one another, through the ministry of welcoming, through evangelization and ecumenism. With the Bishop, we shall pursue this mission faithfully through the example of Jesus Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit and the gifts and talents of our members.” All are welcome today, especially visitors, guests and those who might be new to the community.

@@shill700 Love and thankfulness does not constitute the sin of pride. There's a huge difference. The red flag indicating that the sin of pride is being committed is if a person is expressing that the faith they follow is superior to all others while showing vitriol towards those that do not follow in this person's religious and spiritual journey. Being thankful to the Virgin Mary and expressing love for the Roman Catholic Church is by no means proclaiming superiority over others nor showing any vitriol. The Roman Catholic Church places an emphasis on being a humble person. So if that is what you are basing your conclusions on, it is understandable. But please note that one can be humble as religious doctrine urges while still being thankful and expressing love for the faith and of religious figures.
