First I think we are overthinking summer league (as a collective fan base) even with Marcus Sasser I mean the set the SL scoring record last year and you couldn’t tell me he isn’t better than he was then..In regards to Ron he got better and more comfortable every single game..
@nathanzonno90306 күн бұрын
The one thing I think wasn’t talked about enough in the Jaden Ivey equation is..especially towards the end of last season.. he is progressing as a shooter.. he’s shooting career 34% from three but I think within the last 16 games or so he was shooting 39%..I think that progression is what wins Ivey a starting spot over Ausar.. Ausar has to show shooting progression and he just hasn’t yet..you have to further explore Ivey in the starting line up especially with Tobias Harris as a safe guard and veteran piece.. he will help take pressure off both Cade and Ivey.. Also Cade is better at catch and shoot threes which further would make sense for Ivey and Cade

What did you think about the game where Sasser had 8 assists? That game, he looked different. Averaged 5 per game in SL, but I didn't think he looked as good creating for others in the other games. But then again, that's never been his game. It's not why he was drafted.

Shocked you both came down on the over. First, if you actually are betting the clear value is in the under. But second, there are multiple incentives for them to tank post-ASB: the 2025 draft is stacked and includes a generational talent in Cooper Flagg. Plus, their draft pick is top 13 protected. Even if they come with the 11th worst record - few unlucky jumps from team behind them could landcthem at pick 14.

Local media has access to players, coaches, and the FO. They are told many things off the record. The negative press for Ivey is coming from someone with influence. Last season it was easy to blame coach Monty but if anything the trade Ivey noise has grown louder since his departure. That it seems to be built upon the "doesn't fit with Cade" narrative I can't help but wonder if it's actually Cade who doesn't want to share on ball usage with Ivey.

@pheralanpathfinder4897 You can run offenses with 2 non shooters, with 3 man actions. Like double screens, or PnRs with back screens. You just need your other 2 players to be able to punish the defense when they collapse.

@pheralanpathfinder4897 the coach you mentioned just so happens to be the head coach of the Detroit Pistons. I'd also argue he was fired more as a scapegoat than for any other reason.
@elblouses12814 күн бұрын
I can see the argument for bringing Ausar off the bench. But saying he "doesn't contribute to the offense" is misleading, at best. He was one of the better offensive rebounders last year. He finished his rookie year at about 48% from the field. Was well over 50% for much of his second half of the season. He finished well. Was opportunistic on cuts and putbacks. Good in transition. Good on his close shots as well as (few) mid-range shots. He's got vision for making the extra pass and operating within the flow of an offense. Good processor. He'll likely expand his playmaking in year 2.
@pheralanpathfinder489714 күн бұрын
Good points. All of that said Ausar and Duren are a terrible fit because one player can effectively guard both, leaving Cade trapped at half court with zero open shooters. Can Ausar be a point like his brother? Do we want Cade playing off ball with Ausar as the hub?
@elblouses12814 күн бұрын
@@pheralanpathfinder4897 yeah, I think that’s the argument I see for him coming off the bench.
