Would it be possible to use grafting methods to Dwarf-ify a full grown adult fruit bearing tree? Like, every place where there is a lot of length in-between important transitions or fruiting portions you cut out that length and graft it back together as to shorten the entire structure?

…fertilizers that release large amounts of Nitrogen quickly into the soil can encourage structurally weak growth that could cause problems and could potentially promote spread of oak wilt throughout a tree. Aside from the formulation, the method of fertilization differs from that of your grass. In order to give your trees the most benefit, the fertilizer must be placed below the grass roots.

I planted about fifty this year. I will be potting some more next year. The red makes the best jam and yellow makes very good jelly.

I have identified at least 3 of these trees that are super sweet in tontitown arkansas. Great for making jelly or jam or eating off the tree.

I’ve been doing some digging on the nutrition for oak trees English oak in particular and I’ve seen it recommend values at either 10-10-10 or 10-6-4 has anyone got anything they can perhaps add to this?

So. I have about 10th acre of these in lake city fl. This is the third year they bloom but no fruit. They have been growing wild. Any suggestions on getting fruit

How is this possible? I planted red oaks last year and have maybe gotten a couple inches out of them they get watered 3 to 5 times a week and are surrounded by mulch.

Question: are these trees self-pollinating? Or do you need a pair in order to get the cherries?

In important use for wild-type chickasaw plums is pollination of plum cultivars, especially Chickasaw cultivars and hybrids, many of which are nearly pollen sterile and require chickasaw plum for pollination.

Love what you did here, utilizing a space that would normally be useless fescue for native perrenials that provide food for people and animals, cover for animals, and cools your microclimate like mowed grass wouldnt. Not to mention they are kinda nicer to look at! Recently ive become very interested with the idea of cultivating various native perrenials like Chickasaw Plum, Persimmons, Golden Currant and "donating" them to various similar spots around my city

After four years of trying, I finally germinated these from seed. After collecting them for anyone reading this, they require a period of warm, stratification, first before cold stratification.

Although there some oaks that grow much faster than others and will produce acorns relatively early NONE will produce a HEAVY crop enough to make a difference until at least 25 years . Are you willing to wait that long ?There are much better ways to improve habitat in a shorter period of time .

I actually believe the answer to the question about why animals pick this tree over that tree has alot to do with how resiliant that tree is to acorn weevils!! And have noticed first hand that they are becoming more and more of a problem with each passing year. Several years ago you might have a handful of acorns that would have holes out of 100lbs. Not anymore! Now it is at least half if not more will have those buggers in them!! This year is the worst i have ever seen!! If it keeps on and is not addressed soon then oak trees will not have any productive acorns. And the animals won't have any acorns to eat.

I have bought a few trees from you guys. They are healthy ,look good and arrive fast. I have noticed that the very small root system that is developed during the first year growth. Is the problem. If they are planted directly into the ground. , watering is the key. If you live Mike from hunting ground, pray for rain They won’t do well in hot dry weather the first year. I now plant them in containers for the first year. It has improved the survival rate a great amount

Why do you have to cut the tree off? You cant cut and graft to the side of the tree? What if its a mature tree you want to graft another variety to? Thanks for the vudeo!

Cost? Benefit proved by experiments? Fifty years ago my good friend who owned a nursery sold out because he learned trees can be grown from seed with a mylar funnel shield. Germinate, water once at planting, all done! Old useless clear X-ray squares were shaped into funnels, broad side down, to hold in the moisture, protect from animals, filter out UV.

Hi! I have a oak tree that is struggling, it’s right next to the driveway. We had an arborist come out and look at it and he suggested fertilizing to ensure it can get nutrients. A few questions: What fertilizer are you utilizing? My tree is a white oak tree, what fertilizer would you use?

I wish more Americans would focus on native landscaping and quit buying the exotic mass-produced "green desert" plants from Lowes and Home Depot! Native plants support our wildlife and are adapted to our country. I love Nativ Nurseries as a source for trees I grow on a Florida not-for-profit campground.
