I went to the doctor and said I had a parasite and she walked in and without asking my symptoms told me that she saw that I take medication for ADHD and said that it's common for people to believe that and I was so upset that she wasn't taking me seriously that I left. I was diagnosed with "delusional parasitosis" I had recently gone to another doctor just weeks before this because my entire body was swollen. I wondered why he wasn't concerned and he just felt my abdomen and listened to my heart and chest. He told me to watch my weight and come back if I gained any more weight. I had only gained about 10 pounds since my last visit so I found that comment strange. I am a small person. Right now I am only 123 pounds at 5'3. At the time I was maybe 135. I thought that was a strange thing to say and walked out wondering why edema in my entire body was just dismissed and not even looked at. After reading my aftercare summary he commented that I had made my appointment out of concern of recent weight gain. He didn't listen to me at all. I told him my legs, arms, and even my neck was very swollen and so much so I was walking funny because it felt like I had bags of water strapped to my thighs. Somehow all he heard was a woman complaining about weight gain. I didn't know I could get medication over the counter for worms or parasites and sorry for the TMI but I saw what looked like angel hair spaghetti in the toilet after taking it. I went several months knowing I had worms without receiving treatment for them. I have had symptoms that may or may not be related with my stomach, skin, and hair. My dermatologist didn't listen to me either when I had major hair loss and because he saw that I was "delusional" he didn't even look at my scalp under a microscope and wrote that I had previously been diagnosed with "delusional parasitosis" and that I believe I have some type of bug or parasite in my hair.
