Hi Paul, I think Bob has been working on this all year, maybe longer, this was the official first 'tank test' discovering only one minor leak on one of the propeller shafts.
@rongrim13 күн бұрын
G'day again Paul. Bob's responses when I asked him some questions . . . I've been working on the Rodney for a bit over 2 1/2 years. There was a fair bit of that time I didn't work on the model due to a lot of things including, a new granddaughter. the bosses' orders and health problems. The model is about 2/3rds finish. There are range finders, more guns, cranes, ship boats............etc. The sound system is ready to be installed. I have the usually sounds, big guns, action stations. the music, Life on the Ocean Waves with Rule Britana at the end. Unfortunately, no IED lights in the barrels. Model Sounds forgot to install the sound and now they have closed the company down. At this rate of production, it may be another year to be completed.

G'day Fred, Sorry to hear you haven't had a sail day recently. I don't think we even went into a lockdown here in Perth, Western Australia. Have you considered migrating? You would need to be able to withstand summer temperatures of 45 deg C (113 F). We have another sail day planned for this Sunday (7 April), with the guys congregating for a barbecue breakfast by the lake at 07:30 I personally do not have any vessels to sail, I joined the club to expand my video recording and editing, and to simply enjoy the tranquility of the lake on a Sunday morning. Cheers for now, Ron

G'day David, the Missouri, Charybdis and Anzac ships are all 1:72 scale, hence the club's name Task Force 72, unsure about the HSV-2 Swift scale. Cheers, Ron

G'day Brian, Bob, the owner of the Missouri, also has the Yamato, the Bismarck and is currently building the HMS Rodney. However, these ships are dwarfed by Peter P's USS Constellation aircraft carrier which measures at 4.6 metres at our 1:72 scale.Cheers.

One of our members has a 1:72 scale model of the USS Constellation aircraft carrier. At that scale, it is still 4.6 metres length in the water. I'm looking forward to the day he sails her again, it's been two or more years since last sighted. Big is BEST!

Ron, have you considered an anti-glare filter for your camera. It may help.

Thanks Haig, It is a nuisance, we can only sail on the western side of the lake due to access, so we're looking into the sun every sail day. I'll see if the filter is available for my cameras. Cheers.

Just out of curiosity, how do you manage radio communications when your submarine is submerged? Can the radio waves penetrate the top several feet/meters? If that is the case if the sub accidentally goes too deep for the radio to communicate with it is there a default program that forces the sub to surface? I'm sure I'm not the first viewer to not have a clue. Do you have a website where I can read about this and other aspects of your creations? Calling it a hobby feels like I'm not doing it justice for all the skill that you obviously put into these ships.
@rong7768 Жыл бұрын
The subs do not dive to any depth, they just go out of sight below the water. The radio receiver antenna generally stays above water level. Radio contact would be lost if they went too deep, and you would not be able to signal the sub to resurface. Lost sub. Lost thousands of dollars.

@@rong7768 Thank you for responding so quickly. I appreciate your letting me know how it was accomplished. I will have to look closer as I didn't notice the antenna.

@@rickkephartactual7706 I'm in my 70's and have never glued two pieces of paper together. I leave the model-making to the guys in the club, my hobby is video and editing production. I love filming the boats because they travel at a sedate speed and are relaxing to watch.
@rickkephartactual7706 Жыл бұрын
@@rong7768 I understand and agree. I don't care for watching an outstanding model built to scale meticulously and then they put a motor in it that allows it to fly along at speeds that would be unattainable for the actual ship. If I knew someplace close to where I live I would go to watch them too but the best places seem to either Australia or Europe, not too much like that here in the US.
