I find the V8 Patrol Warrior is the clear winner here over both. When ticking all the boxes it is just a no brainer decision. To back this statement up watch this clip kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4OZmIWAjLhqa5Y&ab_channel=MORE4x4

its not fulltime 4wd. 4WD Fulltime uses an open diff or limited slip to distribute power to all wheels all the time. 4WD Auto uses clutches to lock the center diff if it detects slipping

I like the 300, it’s kinda the best Prado they’ve ever made and as a wagon it’s kinda hard to beat but as a tow vehicle, it’s working a hell of a lot harder to tow 3.5t and the 200s struggled with that as it is. Loved my 200, might buy a 300 when I’m done towing but for now, I’ll stick with the 2500.

Who’s they? You know the government put massive emissions standards on the V8 which made it impossible the meet, so Toyota decided not to make it an option, so blame the government for killing the Toyota V8 not the manufacturer. In the future there will be no option for a V8 from Nissan either because the government is introducing a massive tax on emissions for manufacturers which will be passed on to the sale cost And the option for a diesel won’t be available either . All for climate change bullshit.

Had both and no comparison, the 300 in every way. More power, much quicker, better tech, better looking as the 200 really looks dated now, really dated... it's more comfortable to drive with adaptive variable suspension, the adaptive high beam in the 300 leaves the lighting between the two, really night and day, and although it's only 2 litres per 100 kilometres better fuel consumption, it's definitely more fuel efficient, and that 10 speed gearbox, just no comparison. Heated and cooled seats in both the front and back is superb, the sound system is much better, and in all honesty, the cab may be slightly smaller up front, but you actually feel like you fit into the seats, rather than sit on the seats. The steering is also much lighter and more pleasant to manoeuvre, and the sound between them...meh. The only person who hears the car are the people outside the car, which in all honesty doesn't sound like a petrol V8 at all anyway, from inside when driving, with your tunes, talking, listening, swearing at other drivers, you can't really hear the engine anyway. I don't think I would spruke to anyone that I would buy a car on it's sound alone.....Y62 drivers will argue that.... The split tailgate? Well, I actually prefer it being one piece, though don't like the beeping... I can can actually reach the stuff in the back now, rather than lift your knee up on the bottom of the tailgate to reach the back to get something....and I'm 6 foot tall..... The one piece is great if it's raining as well. Inside just looks great, it's modern, up to date, has Apple Car Play, and above all, I don't want a car that's old and outdated. What's not to love about a new car smell..... The 200 has had it's day, was great for 14 years, move on into the future. The 200 is now the Y62 of the Landcruiser range, old and outdated.

I’ve towed my 3T van with both ended my selling the 300 straight away it was under to much stress towing compared to the 200 which did it much easier I don’t care about power you want reliability there not race cars
@tempestv83 күн бұрын
The 6 speed auto gearbox in the 200 Series is very clunky especially when it downshifts from 2nd to 1st on an uphill slope. If only Toyota had put the 8 speed auto from the Lexus LX570 into the later 200 Series model years. The interior of the 300 is indeed much tighter than the 200 Series. If the front seats felt tight on the 300 Series, the loss of space wasn't translated into more room for the 2nd row. Instead, the 300 Series second row seats feel way more cramped, and it isn't helped by the hump in the center of the floor. 200 Series has a bigger fuel tank and meatier stock tyres (285mm vs 265mm on the 300). Also the 200 Series has a far higher roof load capacity, which is yet another negative on the 300. The 300 V6 is probably more stressed than the 200's V8 to produce more using 2 less cylinders. This could imply the 1VD-FTV motor will outlast the F33A-FTV. The 300 has aluminium body panels compared to the 200 steel skin. This may mean panel shops will have a harder time fixing 300 dented panels. Possibly the PDR (paintless dent removal) process will be harder with the 300.

What are you guys talking about? 1VD has Low teck? The 1VD V8 79/200 series engine is LITERALLY the worst Landcruiser engine of all time. It Tows like crap, produces weak torque (because it’s a V8, inline 6’s have a much better torque band) and imagine changing that starter motor when your on a long trip……….ohhh you didn’t know about that did you? Look up changing the starter motor on a 1VD engine 😂 rocket rod will explain all of this too you

Vented seat, lockers, better gearbox and smashes a 200 in a drag race and to get the power out of both vehicles the 300 is way cheaper and the thing everyone talks about fuel usage is less with the 8 speed gearbox. I was a hard core v8 guy but couldn't go a 200 but had 76 vdj unit i brought a twin turbo raptor v6 and it kicked everything on the road in the 4wd market but not reliable so brought a 300 to come back to toyota and agree it sounds like a tractor needing a rebuild hahah
@adamsmith55653 күн бұрын
A drag race? Is that what LandCruisers are for? For $150K+ you’d want to get lockers in the GR Sport. Its way cheaper to get a GXL and add e-Lockers.
@JamieWilliams-j9z3 күн бұрын
@adamsmith5565 see how them e lockers go mate, with toyota you possibly might have warranty but my point is you get a lot more nicer stuff with better sound system and few other small create your comforts to make the drive easier. On long distance driving. Gxl isn't worth $hit and well out dated for its price, I do agree 160k for a gr is well over the top when you can get a 2500 ram for that but i brought a gr 300 for 130k and with most mods done already so was lucky

I feel like the only thing better about a 200 series is the sound but while touring who on earth wants to deal with that drone in your ear? How ever I've never owned a 200 series (Always wanted one) so cant really compare the 2 personally. I love my 300 series and do not regret the purchase in the slightest. But if my budget didn't allow me to get a 300 series and only a 200 series I would not be disappointed in the slightest at all! I don't think anyone makes a bad decision if they purchase either car!

I mean, if you want a diesel engine that is already putting 700Nm of torque straight out of the show room, then it becomes a brainer. Please note, all toyota models are reliable and there is no toyota model which has to prove its reliability over time (except the diesel hilux from 2015 to 2019, but as far as I am concerned, it's always toyota reliability that gets the clients time and time again)

As the vdj’s V8’s ride off into the sunset they will be more sought after. I’m more old-school and love the noise of a v8. I think if you like the car to drive for you 300 all the way… but if you want to make decisions and have to drive 200 easy. Both awesome cars one’s a legend and one’s to prove it’s self yet time will tell again.
