You are welcome to visit the Western Pacific Railroad Museum (wplives.org/) and explore inside the fence. The UP railyard to the north of the museum is of course off limits, it is a working railroad.

This is what the Moffat Tunnel would look like with the lights turned on!
@theshapeexists2 жыл бұрын
My dad and grandfather worked at amtrak in Denver. We would always go to glenwood on the train because we got cheap deals with travel and hotel. I always remember when we'd get ready to go through Moffat tunnel and they had to make sure all the windows were sealed and not to travel between cars when in the tunnel

I have fond memories of WP 917 when it arrived at Rio Vista Junction's museum. It sure looks rough now, sadly. Was it in an accident? The other F units from the same railroad are not exhibiting such bad looks, that is why I was wondering.

It has been sitting out in the sun for a very long time so that’s why the point has been rusted

Does this still have the original 567 prime mover or was it replaced?
@billmoran381211 ай бұрын
Actual 567 prime movers are pretty rare. EMD hasn’t made 567 power packs for many years. Most of those units have received 645 power packs which consist of cylinder liner, piston, rings, connecting rods and cylinder head. The 645 power packs fit in the old 567 blocks without modifications.

However long you let a EMD sit for in the rain, it's going to start up like it was hardy used.

What the heck happened to this locomotive? I remember seeing it back in the 1980's, after delivered to Rio Vista Junction's museum. It didn't have all this damage on it.

Crash or mileage probably
@tallpaul94752 жыл бұрын
@@justanothergermantankie9142 I know there are three others from the same railroad, two of which likely have more mileage. But, if it was a crash, the body is pretty straight for that. I think whoever prepped the paint or maintains this unit is the cause. It is sad.
@mikehawk20032 жыл бұрын
@@justanothergermantankie9142 Not a single dent to say it's been a crash. It's been outside for 30+ years now.

I have run this locomotive, and donated money towards a new coat of paint many years ago. But I see nothing has happened. They prepared it for painting, but still nothing has happened. Looks like the 805-A is starting to rust as well.
