Cross marine drive at the east end of the runway, the bike/sk8 path takes you directly in line with the runway. Super cool when the fighter jets take off low and fast.

I live in Portland, it’s so cool to have F 15s sharing the runway with commercial jet liners. Also Atlas air still flies cargo 747s out of PDX for my fellow fans of the queen.

Really nice footage! Impressive that you're able to keep distant planes so stably in view with a long lens. Are you able to do 4k in the future? I know the files are a lot bigger, but I think 4k30 would be a lot better than 1080p60.

Oregon ANG doesn't use GIBs with their F-15EXs as far as I know. USAF got them because the two-seaters were still in production for overseas customers and they'd have to spend some money to get the single-seat line going again. Single-seat birds were last produced in the US in 1985, last produced elsewhere (Japan, F-15J) in 1997.

So, you might be the right person to ask, 10ish years ago I heard a peculiar sounding aircraft, looked up and saw what I thought was a Beechcraft Starship leaving PDX. My friend who is a professional pilot said “no way, must have been an Avanti”. I know the history but also know there are a small handful that weren’t destroyed and are operational. Any thoughts?

I was a ramp monkey in summer '96 at Santa Fe SAF. We were visited by a Starship. Evergreen Museum has one outside currently, maybe that was the one you saw.

Camera location is 45.58841988050229, -122.57342377801598 (I think). 70-300mm with 1.6x APSC crop factor, plus two stages of digital stabilization, so probably another 50% crop-in, means you're seeing about a 600mm equivalent at full zoom here.
