Actually both of those controllers are fakes, but one was slightly better overall... I've even heard of people being sold fake goods directs from Amazon, so even the vendors can be duped. Chinese piracy is very sophisticated.

Real one is always heavier

The real one can connect to all device and ps4 but the fake one can only connect to hdmi emulator smartphone laptop pc and tablet

Another way you can tell is the analogy the grips on the real controller looks way different from the fake controller.

The one on the right is most likely a legit, Sony used to package the controllers that way before changing it

You would think the company making the copy would just make it 1:1 exactly including just scanning an original bottom label. I suppose they are just looking to sell to randoms not hardened collectors. But still it has to be made and takes no more time to make it exactly the same rather than stretch out fonts etc. Very unusual, or maybe they are just not that smart lol

My brother bought one off eBay and I thought it was fake cause my remote was heavier than his and when we used his it was way worse than mine, and now my remote is messing up so Im going to have to buy another real PS4 remote

2017 i put my ps3 back into action but i wanted a new controller. bought one on amazon, looked original with the package, the looks and all but when you put it to use you felt it was a fake one. the deadzone of the sticks was completely off and you could only press R3 while not moving the stick and the thumbsticks itself felt really hard and not that good old smooth feeling the ps3 thumbsticks had. but just from the looks it was an original controller.

Just picked up a magma red one from Wal-Mart what threw me off was it was sealed but not with that clear sticker, more white opaque so I hooked it up to my PS4 when its fake the system will tell you "this controller isn't acting right, this might not be a real controller" something along those lines but mine didn't say that and the sticker on the bottom then the share / options and the weight 216 Grams all seem to point to a legit controller, I think I just might be paranoid 😅 got burned from Amazon Warehouse Deals when I bought that highly sought-after Berry Blue it turned out to be a Counterfeit 😢 someone switched the legit one for the counterfeit. Also Early Legit PS4 controllers say Sony Computer Entertainment but half way through its life Sony changed it to Sony Interactive Entertainment. But the newer

Do they both work for the PS4? Is the fake one cheaper? If they both work and the fake one is cheaper. Then I'll buy the fake one all day long.

Another way to tell is the charging point at the top of the controller inside the slot the connector is made up of a few tiny metal dots where as the real one is one straight strip. I noticed this with a controller my misses bought cheap online.

Im late but thats why I just stick with buying new controllers from major retailers or Sony directly I don’t buy things like this online especially eBay unless its like best buy or target maybe GameStop but for the most part I stay away from buying more moden stuff thats still available in the store off eBay. eBay is okay for retro gaming if you know what to look for and can spot details that may raise a red flag.

I'm ashamed to say this but I knew I bought something dodgy by the price I live in England I ordered a dualshock 4 online for o ly 23 pounds which is almost half price in the uk 1 week later playing apex legends it breaks in ny hands all sticks just drift wildly so fast forwards to today hyst bought a brand new real one n instantly can tell the difference my point being always buy your 1st party Sony controllers from a reputable seller unlike I did tryi g to save money its ended up costing me more now

Here's an update: I've bought a bunch fake DualShock 4 controllers (in white as they look a lot nicer) to resell them (got em fairly cheap) and as long as the customer is aware it's a third party controller and it works as it should, there isn't much of an issue with it. I also test it myself before selling to them. I do wish they'd make DS4 controllers with USB-C port, but if you want that you'd have to get a different one like a DualSense-style (it works really well and I've been using one for 9 months now).
