Hey Kevin I have a rock its very dense and heavy for its size. I tried to cut it with an angle grinder couldnt make a scratch. Polished a small window and it just looks like silver metal so silver it looks almost black and it has a black crust but its not a meteorite its high grade something. NO idea where its from maybe SA. We think its Hematite but it doesnt really stain red, Magnetite maybe but its not magnetic. Theres no iron in it. I cant think of what could be so heavy. So I am wondering what I could take a slice with? Is there a type of disc for a grinder? I think it would ruin a cutting disc on a machine. It must have some pretty structure inside cant see any crystal structure in where I polished and it took 30 min to take 1mm off.
@kevinnix653120 күн бұрын
hi, it may well be hematite, or rich with hematite (or some other iron rich rock), you can get a diamond blade for your grinder, but the cut would be limited and small, you really need someone with a large wet diamond saw

hi mike, thanks for comment, clamping the grinder might suit certain work, but I need the flexibility and accuracy of freehand.
