About 5 years ago i was coming home and got off at chatswood station..i was waiting for my Maccas order..whilst waiting 2 young constables were talking to some young smart arse kids that frequented the station. Before i knew it these 2 cops were in over their heads and were being overwhelmed by about 10-15 angry youths. Before i knew it i realised that these 2 cops were minutes away from getting smashed. I pulled out my phone and called 000. Talking to the operator i was asked something like this " are the police being assaulted , being attacked or in danger" to which i did answer yes. I was told to stay on the line. Within minutes cars marked and unmarked turned up trying to calm the situation. At that point another 10- 15 youths had now joined in the scuffle. During this time the public order and riot police turned up in their trucks and then all hell broke lose. I remember one cop on the ground being attacked by 3 youths. It was at this point i got actively involved and got into it with the police helping pull these kids of this cop on the ground . At this point again more heavy duty cops arrived and i will never forget the smell of mace .

Yes and no. It’s not a rare siren for this particular Fire service/dept as a whole (they use this siren on commanders and officers cars, as well as being a common police siren in Sydney), but rare for an urban Pumper like this. They actually replaced this siren with a standardised one that comes with a rumbler, used by the fire service for its Urban Pumpers shortly after this. It sounds noticeably different these days.

That's the famous 'Mad Max' siren, mate. Melbourne's Metropolitan Fire Brigade uses this siren pack for most of their fire apparatus.

@@LukasHannover1988The company that makes them has gone bust, so It’s a dying breed now. This truck has now been replaced, and it just happened to be the last unit in the state of NSW to use the LTS pack. Even in Victoria, most LTS sirens have been replaced by knock off versions by Code 3. It’s quite lucky but rare to hear an original LTS in Melbourne now, but still kind of common in country Victoria . Only the Fire Services continue to use these sirens as of today.

@@0ne-6right40 My favorite siren to use is the Federal Signal SS2000SM (LAPD siren). My second favorite is the Federal Signal pathfinder (with the rumbler). Edit: Isn't the... 'LTS' made by Locktronic, or somethin'?

The Rail Fire & emergency service (the brigade with the Mercedes in this vid) actually bought a new Volvo-Rosenbauer appliance recently, and it has a Fedsig Smart Siren With a Rumbler - Most of the Aussie Rosenbauer trucks built within the last four years do! As for my favourite sirens, I actually have a bit of a soft spot for the British and Euro two tone horns, but no one uses those in Australia. And also, LTS is made by, and stands for Locktronic Systems.
