I have a Panasonic 4/3 camera. A nearby camera dealer had several later model Olympus 4/3 bodies.

I remember when WHITE body Olympus or Sony cameras seem to sell big in the Middle East and Japan. Not an American or Canadian color choice. The Pen F has the same electronic “guts” of an OM-D dslr camera which sold for about $300 less.

Hoor graag jouw mening.

The lens cap on my 12-40mm self destructed a few weeks after I got it. I threw the pieces in the trash just today. Great review of the 25mm f/1.2.

I'm sorry for necro-ing your comment section. My forst m43 camera was the E-PL3. I liked it a lot and it pushed me into micro four thirds as a whole. I came across this video as I have bought an E-PL7 to act as a companion camera for my E-M1 bodies (compact lens in a side pouch for times when I have the large telephoto on the E-M1 and want to snap something quickly). I thought that I would really want a Pen-F due to the built in viewfinder. I love the looks and I prefer a VF to a screen. However, watching this, I feel that the E-P5 would in fact be a better choice. It has also caused me to appreciate my Lumix GX-7 which I feel acts as an interesting alternative to the E-P5 - although the viewfinder can sometimes stick out a little too much when stored away, it's a lovely camera to use snd seems to be an interesting compromise between the E-P5 and the F.

I enjoyed your opinion on the P7. I feel the E-P5 is the best option for me. The price for a second hand P5 is a much better option for me. Thanks

Why not print bigger? I get nice A4 print to edge results from a Canon powershot A70 with a 3.2 megapixel sensor. I also have the E-300 and will try printing much larger.

I own a Nikon Z7, EM1 II and EM1 III and guess which camera I normally take onto a hike or a weekend trip? My EM5 III as It is "good" enough" and is so light! Even with 12-45 F4 Pro I do not feel it hanging on my shoulder.

Thank you for the very useful review based on personal experience. Re your concern about the shutter speed, did you consider or evaluate the electronic shutter? I believe it allows speeds up to 1/16000 sec.

I started using the E-P7 for street photography more after I’d made this video and used it a lot in silent mode (so electronic shutter) since. I’ve grown more accustomed to it since then :).

I also did a short video about the e300 in 2024. I think it's still worth buying today but the price is going up slowly I think. I bought the 35mm 3.5 macro for it and I love it.

I absolutely agree with you on it still being worth buying. I’ve just gotten a few lenses for it (also that macro). It’s such a fun camera! I’ve recently gotten a Panasonic L1 as well, with which it can share the same lenses. Such fun hobby cameras. Had a look at your video as well, enjoyed it, thanks for sharing!

I kept a nikon dslr to keep using my Manual nikon ai lenses, that I truly love, but this is the most beautiful system I ever managed to use. The files are just of organic beauty. Just a little tank that is a pure joy to use. Olympus should push it more in more ways than just nature, because this camera may excel in different areas...

I've been shooting with the OMD MK-4 for two years now. I love that it's tiny, light and east to use. But I am considering of changing to a Fuji film or Sony. I find that my OMD doesn't pick up colours as well as the Fuji cameras do. I am currently using the 25mm & 45mm lenses which are so much fun and give a great picture quality for posting online. My only wish with my camera is that Olympus never added so many bad filters and extra's that are rubbish, it just seems pointless and more of a marketing feature.
@jonbarnard71862 ай бұрын
I noticed that OMD does not sell any Pen cameras now, at least not on their websites. Maybe some day they'll come out with an OMD branded Pen, but I don't see any sign of that. They are pushing the Tough line instead. Every camera they sell now is weather sealed too. I don't think any of the pens were. Hang on to those Pens because they are now collector's items.

Hi Bart, first of all thank you for the video and how well you explained your view on this product. I’m completely new and I pretty much know nothing about cameras. I’m gonna be traveling soon and is looking for a camera who does “vintage” pictures and from my research, everyone is saying that the Olympus is a very good camera to do this kind of pictures. Would you agree ? Also from your video, it looks like I could do so much more with it, in an easy way as you explained. So from what I said, do you confirm that the Olympus e-p7 would be a good camera for my use ? Thank you very much for your help, it’s really hard to decide when my knowledge isn’t very good and with all of the different cameras on the market! Regards, Marty

An ideal complement for a Lumix G9II, because Lumix does not (yet) offer a small camera (smaller body than that of the G9II) in this price range.

I currently use an E-M10 Mark II and had been considering upgrading to one of the E-M1 or OM-1models, but realised that I far prefer the feel of my E-M10 Mark II to my old E-330, which is very similar in overall size (though a fair bit heavier) to the OM-1. Other than a bigger (though still small compared to the OM-1and E-330) grip, the E-M5 MarkIII or OM-5 is hardly any bigger than the E-M10, but would be a big upgrade. For a compact travel setup, I use a Lowepro Format 120 bag. Camera with 14-42 EZ zoom fitted, 40-150 zoom and Metz 36 AF-40 flash (which I originally bought for the E-330) all fit in the case, with four spare batteries and USB cable going in the pockets. I usually also clip a lens bag containing a 75-30 zoom to the strap fittings. Pretty sure the E-M5 Mark III would also fit🤔

I think it's a nice buy for people like me who are looking for their first non Panasonic m43. It has some nice features. It doesn't have to be a ground breaking difference. I'd attach a 300 pro to it 😃 I use a 100-400 with a GX9. You just have to hold them differently.

good review. The one thing I would say, is I got it specifically because I did not want a camera with a viewfinder or bumps and bulges. When I am want all that, I use my Pentax K3-III. What I want for a a pocket camera is a truly pocketable ILC camera, with modern electronics The only thing I wish it had was USB C port instead of micro.

bought e-300 back in 2012 for $60 instantly fell in love with its colors, nice to see, I could sell it for like 3x the price (due to the hype), but the hell I won't! 😂 I used to hate its non-DSLR looks, but bow I love its quirky looks and hefty weight (use it with vintage manual long lenses primarily)

A bit quirky in use, but a very lovable lens. Extremely sharp, and always produces gorgeous images in general photography as well as macro distances. My only complaint is the AF shows its age, and it is not as perfect as newer designs. It can get confused in lower contrast situations compared to newer lenses. As a user would I recommend this lens? Heck yeah. Useful and lovable.
