They do that not realizing they’re directly contributing to the toxic state of ranked play/the community and they don’t see how that’s the case. Or maybe they don’t want to because then they’d have to take responsibility for their actions. And we know they don’t like doing that

I beg to differ. Anime games can be fun and cool to play. They don’t have to be broken/abused due to unintentional design flaws. Accepting anime games as broken is accepting mediocrity and you’re just fine with poorly made/optimized games. You being okay with this is part of the problem in the anime fighting game space and why they don’t last. I’ve played anime games for as long as I can remember and they didn’t become broken until they became 3D arena fighters/made their way to the online space. The Budokai games/Burst Limit weren’t broken. Nor were Naruto games until Clash of Ninja 2 and the Storm series. I’m not asking for the game to be balanced to the degree of a traditional fighter unless you’re in ranked mode and even then the balancing can be done and still keep the game fun to play. Also, broken mechanics shouldn’t be in a fighting game really in general (which I blame the devs for) but the community abusing them for wins isn’t something that’s called an “exploit” for a reason. It’s the reason why people put them down so quickly and they die off before they should.

@@jbriggs06 you're correct. we won't agree. winning by any means when it comes to exploiting mechanics not intended within the game or only being able to win by relying on overpowered/broken mechanic doesn't make you a good/skilled player in my eyes. even those at the top of a competitive scene at least have mastered mechanics and controls of the game to a degree that most of us and wouldn't and couldn't reach. anything extra they do is a benefit, not a crutch the way most in the anime fighting game community use them. myself and others aren't saying for player matches low tier characters should be able to compete with high tiers. it's casual play and casual fun should be experienced. however, in a competitive/ranked setting, there should be balance in mind to keep the mode fun and competitive. that's why your statement of top level players using these exploits falls on deaf ears with me since even after a patch when and if an overpower character is used in tournament, they're still able to perform at the highest level. most of (and not to be offensive) the players that think like you end up putting the game down after a nerf occurs (take the nerf to androids and giants as example). so no, skill is a requirement in fighting games regardless of the sub genre. in a casual setting, do as you will. but in competitive play, doing and thinking the way you do, exploiting glitches/unintended mechanics in games to win, overpower/unbalanced characters and mechanics directly leads to games such as sparking zero dying before their due date. It's easy for me to pick up an overpowered character and win. i'm supposed to win using that character. after a while there's no challenge, fun, glory, or self fulfillment to be had in doing so. which is why after i got gogeta blue to z, i made other accounts to really test myself and see what else I could learn. i see players like you as needing the easy way to wins in order to be "better" than the next person. And i do play tekken actually lol. that and plenty of other fighting games both traditional and anime fighters, which is why i speak the way i do. i understand the point of anime fighters. but the unbalance in anime fighters is fine, in a casual setting. not ranked/comp. and that goes for any game imo. it's why cod is having an issue with casual play feeling like ranked when thats what ranked is for just as an example.

Super countering and vanishing assault don’t equate since super countering requires timing to pull off. It’s a skill when people super counter you so I disagree with your point. The “trunks tech” was an exploit. As is vanishing assault making you drop your combos. That’s not a defensive mechanic within the game. Not to mention, the break doesn’t even have to be too big to make someone’s combo drop by spamming vanishing assault. It’s not a matter of making people not be able to play the game. It’s about balance. If I beat you in neutral and take your back, I won that exchange. My reward is a combo unless you successfully super counter. Vanishing assault making you drop a combo is a bug that people exploit. So it’s not tech, it’s an exploit. You answered this yourself with you trunks analogy.

But I feel the anime fighting game community is just terrible about it. At the highest level, you still see people run low tiers in Tekken and SF for example. In this game and other anime fighters, that almost never happens

As of now this game is not for fun . Sparking Zero has become more of a competitive sport to gamble on . Sparking Zero also becomes more beneficial to full-time streamers , content creators or people who spend 100+ hours playing the game .

I 100% agree with you on that. Winning is synonymous with fun for most now and it probably always has been. I just surrounded myself with people who knew when to be serious and competitive and when to just relax and have fun. It’s messed up you lost a friend to play with because they would rather learn the easiest/most exploitable things to play and win instead of learning the actual mechanics to play and win but it is what it is. This is a reason gaming in its purest form is dying and small communities like anime fighters/Sparking Zero are having shorter and short life expectancies.

eh to be fair i think a lot of the low DP characters actually got the most unique and creative skillsets out of all the characters in the game. like the first 3 times i got hit with krillins special, i didn't even know what happened lmao. I'd also say Piccolo is one of the best 4dp pick out there next to Gohan, Trunks and Bardock. His 5 DP form ult also cancels a lot of ult, i think. or maybe it was his B2. Gokus in general are strong across the board, most of them have instant transmission or spark, Z End has Instant Transmission and Wild Sense A lot of ppl think Piccolo is not cheesy but Adult Gohan, Piccolo and SSG Vegeta (so he can SSBE faster) is my 2ki cost super spam cheese comp. Bro is goated, he's a Gohan that can't go super saiyan

@derekb2314 Solar Flare is stupid useful I started migrating towards ot more so than Afterimage. And depending on what Goku you use when it comes to End. I personally find Sj2 goated among all the Goku's. Either Piccolo will do I just like the guy 3rd favorite character. Krillin being the first.

@ seeing lower DP characters more in ranked would be a welcome change due to their uniqueness. However, those lower DP characters don’t have skills that can’t be countered. You also don’t have to work 100x harder to counter what they do. Using MUI who has an auto dodge/wild sense/instant spark/can perception you or activate wild sense while auto dodging and can combo you to death with his damage is just over the top. No lower DP character has a kit even close lol. So it would be welcomed to see those lower DP characters more often. The downside is that we only see the most cheesy of the low DP characters in DP Battle. Even there, it’s no variety and people only follow the meta mostly.

@ solar flare is a great utility skill. And it’s nice because you can still fight back while being solar flared lol.

@@NinjaWithAPistol the majority of the blame def falls on the player base, I def agree. It’s crazy how people wanted an upgrade from BT3, but there are certain mechanics, like Sonic sway, perception, etc, that were more balanced than what they are currently. As for characters, I thought everyone used a wide variety of characters but that’s only because I grew up mainly playing my younger brother and that’s what we did. My perspective was small then, whereas now, I’ve been shown it’s quite the opposite with other people. Fuck the roster count, might as well only be 5-7 characters on it the way these guys only pick the strongest ones. Being a real gamer is rare nowadays bro. Don’t lose that lol.

Perception is a janky mechanic as is now, hence why it’s abused as often as it is and players only hide behind it. It makes defense way more convenient and punishes offense making the “passive/defensive play style” the way to go for wins, which isn’t fun for a game like this.

@@michaelwalker8870 I can see where you’re coming from with blaming power scalers. I agree with the rest of your comment as well. I don’t think I would contribute it solely on power scalers though. Main reason is because it happens in all anime fighting games, where people will find the most broken character (not even the strongest in their verse) to use to net easy wins. It’s been that way since the Ninja Storm games got online on PS3. The anime fighting game community doesn’t want to have fun and play the game how they’re intended. They only wish to net wins since they probably don’t win much in anything else. Dragonball games just fall into meta=strongest character in verse since that’s how the game is setup. Unfortunately when Bleach or the HxH comes out, it’ll be the meta slaves and exploiters at the helm ready to fuck the game up.
