I hear they can reject these visas randomly even if all paperwork and documents are in order. So it is wise to be prepared for a rejection. I also heard they recently updated the transit visa for up to 10 days and you can visit many more provinces.

Extending it to 10 days is incredible! I hadn’t heard about the random rejections before - that sounds like it could be very disappointing. Thank you for letting people know!

I know this is old so you may not see it, but could you confirm if you were on the same airline the whole way or two separate tickets? I understand why this was flagged, but curious if I have say a delta open jaw for LAX->PVG and then HKG->LAX with a one way flight on day Cathay from PVG->HKG will that count?

@doinggrownupstuff
@doinggrownupstuff Ай бұрын
We aren’t experts when it comes to visa rules (Obviously, considering our experience that we shared in the video 😅), but this sounds like you would be using the transit visa correctly, and that you will be granted a 24 hour transit visa on arrival - because you have one port of entry in China, and your final destination onward is different from your departure. When we travelled last year, we didn’t need to apply for this prior to our journey starting. Definitely double check with your airline, but it sounds like you’re good!

This video is truly inspiring and has made me realize the difficulties that international travelers encounter when coming to China. I would like to respectfully request permission to use a brief segment, approximately 5 - 10 seconds, of your video??? I aim to utilize this portion to vividly depict the situation and subsequently offer practical answers and solutions to the challenges they might face. By doing so, it is hoped that future international travelers to China can be better informed and adequately prepared in advance of their trips.

Heya Tian - thanks so much for asking! We’d be happy to have you include some of the footage in one of your videos - if you fire us an email at [email protected] we can email you a downloadable copy of the vlog in 4K :) Where are you based? We’re heading back to China in April (Beijing area for the most part, for work, and possibly taking the high speed train to Hong Kong as well) and it would be great to meet up and do a collaboration in person? Let us know if you’re interested!

in china using apps to do everything is super easy and convenient. problem is, if u live outisde china, then basically somewhat in a bubble like the rest of us. its funny coz we consider it the other way around but in reality, we are the clueless ones. have to dig up research first. alipay wechat these let u do almost everything. get that sorted out be_fore u go. get some cash ready as well just in case. get internet acces sorted be_fore u go there. everything becomes easy after that. can order food, hotels, rides, movies, all from ur app. theres nothing hard about it. if u werent clued in, u would walk in the dark wondering what to do, dont got google this, dont know how to do that etc etc...when in reality everything is cashless and works like a charm and easy as 1 2 3...

This summer I went from Taiwan --> Beijing --> Seoul. Taiwan did a good job checking that I qualify for the visa, and the airlines doubled checked before I boarded the flight. VPN and an E-SIM is recommended when you go to China, even if you have VPN on your phone, you can't turn on the VPN when using a Chinese SIM or hotel wi-fi. One thing I did not like in China was all the apps I had to download and if you don't have your phone, you basically can't pay or its very inconvenient.

Surprised so many people are so negative on a video where you're basically explaining everything you did wrong with the intention of helping others! I did a transit stopover in China in 2014 and being reasonably well travelled, thought it would be a breeze. Oh boy. I managed to navigate the Guangzhou metro but didn't realise just how busy it would be and had my big suitcase - I was NOT popular with the locals and thought I would be trapped on the train forever and had to barge my way out. Thought I could use Google Maps to find my hotel and shocked on arrival it didn't work. Apple maps helped a LITTLE but couldn't pinpoint my hotel - I had to approach random strangers on the street to find someone who found English to help me. What was advertised as an English speaking hotel was really minimal and just enough for me to be able to check in. I had two days there and was tempted to just hide in my room the whole time as it was pretty intimidating and probably the biggest culture shock I've ever had. Oh, and then I misunderstood the checkout time and got an angry call from the front desk two days later and no Ubers (available in China at the time) would accept my ride so I had to do the whole train thing again back to the airport and was utterly overwhelmed by the time I left. All these things I'm sure people would laugh and judge me for but I learnt them the hard way! Things turned out okay, but looking at how unprepared I was, I'm so lucky how lightly I got off as so many bad things could have happened as a young woman alone in a foreign country. Which is why I'm here on KZbin, making sure I'm prepared to do the same again soon, and found your video. So thanks for putting yourself out there and being able to laugh through it! (For what its worth, I had a great time, some really kind teenagers helped me order some noodles in their family restaurant and practised their English they learnt at school on me and wanted to take selfies. I made friends with an Iranian man as we were both relieved to find someone to chat to and explored the Canton Tower together and he emailed me the photos later. I ate an omelette with a fish head attached when I thought I ordered beef noodles. Oh, and the first night they had karaoke in my hotel and whilst I don't know what she was singing, I got to see the most tearful, drunken performance, with what I assume were her co-workers dragging her off the podium. Not at all what I expected but 10 years later I reminisce with a smile and laugh at the experience that made me an extremely organised traveller 😆)

Why not speak to the Chinese Embassy and not SOME KZbinRS that messed up? Just make sure if you use the transit visa that you are going to a 3rd country and not making a trip from A to China then back to A, it has to be A - China - B. It's really simple to follow the Chinese visa website all in English.

As a seasoned traveller I had a nightmare experience in Beijing airport, no one at the airport appeared to know what they were doing by directing us to the wrong areas. Our flight was delayed leaving Japan which resulted in us missing our connection in Beijing to Paris. The airline had arranged for us to fly out the following day with an overnight stay at a downtown hotel with transfer included, simple or so we thought. Having to queue and sign some forms by a rude individual in a uniform who just barked orders and pointed we were then directed by others at various points in the airport which resulted in a 1.5hr loop of several security checks only to end up us ignoring the directions after completing a loop to choose a different direction which took us to the driver waiting for us. What a farce, for sure get a VPN as Wifi is next to useless there. Put it down to experience.....never again.

Its a complete scam by China Southern and Chinese government. If you have between 10 and 24 hours stay, China Southern have to provide you hotel. Since the airline is owned by the government, immigration officers work with airline and deny any visa for under 24 hours to save hotel costs. I was denied visa despite having met all requirements and 22 hours layover. Immigration officer kept telling me, "No reason but I can't give you visa". Bunch of horse shit. I had to sleep in the terminal overnight. There were no hotels in the terminal. That's another stupidity in China. A city like Guangzhou, doesn't have airport hotel.
