I really enjoyed your "FIN 780" live show. Your practical approach made the material very accessible. If you could share the name of the textbook you based the course on, I would be very grateful. I'd love to study it closely and follow along as one of your dedicated, remote students.
Excuse me, but how we can calculate the percentage of MACRS, I'm still quite confused at that point. Thank you so much

You can find these numbers at IRS.gov. They are in the tax code. Note that your country might use something different if you are not in the USA. 😊

Does this class eventually segue into The Wheel Options' Strategy and how it's capable of entirely replacing a full-time income, and well above the US Median Income as well - even with the Daily Expiration Index Options like SPY or QQQ. Because it was at the point of learning that where the possibilities of Options completely blew my own mind.

I always pronounced it "Ex-Pie-Err-Ee." Also, "speculative" value was part of Extrinsic Value the way I learned them and it was never referred to as that.
@StephenHaggardPhD2 ай бұрын
www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/expiry Apparently both pronunciations are acceptable. Interesting about the idea of extrinsic value. Is that the same as the option premium or market value?
@aurinator2 ай бұрын
The way I learned it, Extrinsic Value was everything beyond Intrinsic Value@@StephenHaggardPhD, but yes on further consideration I think it's synonymous with the Premium as it decays until expiry. Then yeah, Google confirms it with "Extrinsic value measures the speculative premium that is priced into an option in anticipation of the potential future movement of the underlying asset." So it seems like you learned it as the term "Speculative Value," but I just hadn't heard that one yet.
@StephenHaggardPhD2 ай бұрын
Apparently speculative value and extrinsic value are the same. www.investopedia.com/terms/e/extrinsicvalue.asp Thanks for the lesson!

mathematically if it wasn't rigged there should be at least a few trillionaires from options

In a way you are correct. We know that summing the profits from the two positions will always give us zero gains- it is a zero sum game. However, after considering transactions costs, both sides can expect a loss. Who always wins? The brokers and the exchange.

So you want to find debt-to-equity given total debt ratio?
@StephenHaggardPhD10 ай бұрын
Take the total debt ratio and divide by the total equity ratio. What is the total equity ratio? 1 - total debt ratio. So if total debt ratio was 0.6, D/E would be 0.6/0.4 = 1.5.

@@StephenHaggardPhD Professor, in connection to the theory of Jansen and Meckling, I was thinking - from a behavioural strategy perspective, do you think that this theory could be grounded in a behavioral assumption about managers? Would that be the individuals being prone to self interest, or would you suggest another view to be related? Thanks!
@StephenHaggardPhD Жыл бұрын
@@user-tb2zp6rv1d Yes! We say managers (and all humans) are rationally self interested. This is evolutionary. Our ancestors put the interests of themselves and their families first. As a result, we get to be here today. Their genes are passed onto us via natural selection. People who believe humans are basically good have trouble with agency theory.
