Elvis held Roy Orbison is very high regard, publicly stating that Roy had ' most perfect voice' and referring to him as the 'greatest singer in the world' during one of his Vegas concerts. And Roy's respect was mutual, he went to Elvis' concerts from 1954 to 1976. Roy was the only artist to open for both The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Elvis never recorded one of Roy Orbison's songs, a clear mark of respect in that he did not believe he could better him. The closest he came was one line of 'Running Scared' while recording 'Tomorrow Never Comes' for his classic Elvis Country LP in June 1970. Although legend has it that Roy turned up at the gates to Graceland with a song he has written for Elvis, 'Only The Lonely', however Elvis was not home and Roy went on to record the song which was his first smash hit. In 1979 Roy recorded a tribute song to Elvis, 'Hound Dog Man'. Elvis' one-liner of 'Running Scared' can be found on the Essential '70s masters 5 CD Box Set.

I love this song, but this version is crap. JPY and BCR did great versions. It is not a glam rock song, so I don't know why a glam rock parody band would attempt it and show it such disrespect. It is about a singer who has lost his fame and it should not be poked fun at like this.

Used to go and see them at the Central Club in Richmond, Victoria. They were great. The place was always packed (dangerously so!) and the atmosphere was fantastic. The gorgeous bass player's name is (or was) Throbbing Glitterus. Say no more!

You have a fantastic channel, Simon. I met Jono in 2013. Such a nice, modest, humble bloke. I said to him, "it was an honour to meet you" and he gave me a thumbs up and said, "from one legend to another." I have loved watching all the Bert clips over the last few weeks. Best wishes for 2025!

I like the Australian host here pretends to not know what "Highway to Hell" is, despite it being one of the most influential hits ever put out by an Australian musical act (AC/DC). And Tiny Tim acts like it's this revolutionary new novelty song that he helped popularize.
