An unreleased throwaway tune... Far better then anything the pros can come up with now.

Can't recommend the La'z tribute highly enough. Really do the songs justice, talented and professional. No frills skiffle .

This is interesting. I never realized the La's achieved international fame, but I guess so.

Really has the sound of the sea about it. The rhythm as someone in another thread wisely mentioned is like an Italian Tarantella I went and listened to some Italian Tarantellas and there is definitely influences in 'Fishing Net' Lee never made it a secret that he listened and took influence from many genre's of music. Fishing Net is fabulous 😊

John Leckie produced their first album and said that Lee played him a song called “Fishing net”...(which evolved into “Was it something I said”......) ....he said it was one of the best tunes he had ever heard and wanted to record it but nope Mavers said it was for the fabled 2nd album........if only ......
@galetinm4 жыл бұрын
In a Consequence of Sound article it is said that it was Steve Lillywhite who said that. "While working with the La’s in London, Lillywhite remembered Mavers playing a song he wrote called “Fishing Net” that Lillywhite described as one of the best he ever heard. When he asked Mavers if they could record it, Mavers replied “No, that’s for the second album.”
