14:37 no, the question I really have is whether you pre- cut that piece of toast and then glued it back together.
@backhaul-studios14 күн бұрын
Fortunately I didn't need to! The only thing I did was let the toast sit out for a little after it came out of the toaster so the moisture content would go down a bit. If you look closely at the first shot of the exploding toast at 00:21, you can even see where the impact force of the jelly packet creates a perfect rectangular cutout in the upper part of the toast!

To add a few things: 1. The whole system runs off two sets of batteries. The motors and electronics use a pair of 24v LiPo batteries running in series to get over 50v when fully charged. The solenoid, however, runs off a dedicated 14v LiPo since it has a pretty large current draw, and I didn't want the voltage to the motors to sag right at the moment a round was fired. 2. To actually trigger the solenoid, I originally used a MOSFET trigger since they're extremely small. But after letting the magic smoke out of a couple microcontrollers, I opted to go with an optoisolator to keep the 14v LiPo separated. 3. I learned the hard way that some batches of jelly packets, despite all being from the same manufacturer, have noticeable size variations due to differences in how much jelly gets put in each container. I will absolutely be writing a strongly worded letter to these jelly manufactures since consistency is key in any ammunition, and I can't have these jamming during toast-based combat. Strangely enough, I've found marmalade to be the best so far, so I guess we have the British to thank for something.

Compressed air would definitely be an effective method of acceleration! Though I much prefer the convenience of rechargeable batteries since the high pressure used in paintball tanks (often in excess of 4000PSI) requires dedicated equipment. Perhaps if I ever make a version 2.0, I'll experiment with some different methods of condiment packet launching!
