The costume discussion here was kind of a miss. It's about accuracy. I am more lenient than most, for example the new wolverine suit is good enough for me when a lot of people in the community find it to be utter dogshit, but even with that being said, yeah the entire "Costume Rant" portion was a major miss. Telling these people they're weird for wanting these characters to be adapted right visually is not getting it at the least and low key rude at the most. Adaptation is about translation. Some costumes arent so bad, like the red head band discourse, but some of these characters... like taskmaster specifically, look NOTHING how they did in the source material and that does make some people sad/upset/angry because if we're told we're getting something, especially from MultiBillionaire corp Disney, we want THE THING, not the dollar store version of it. Like Percy Jackson, in the movies there wasnt a single camp halfblood shirt and that upset fans. In the show they are present, even for a short time, and fans rejoiced, why? Because that shirt is IMPORTANT. A Super Hero's suit is IMPORTANT, especially because certain suits are tied to certain arcs and character developments, like Peter Parker's Black suit or Miles Morales finally getting his own suit that wasnt just Peter's, Captain America Sam Wilson putting on the Red White and Blue suit even when the country rejected him. Calling thousands of people weird, while I can admit some go over board sometimes, just for wanting what we're TOLD we're getting misses the mark in several major ways. Also insisting that people are upset about these things because they dont understand their own emotions about a movie is... in the least offensive way I can say this, really pretentious...

Good video! I love you guys but I will say I have to RESPECTFULLY disagree about Snow White. I think people hating on the film simply for Rachel is bad - although it was weird of her to come off like that in a public interview but I think the hate has been way too excessive. I will say I personally am not too excited for the new film as the trailer did not personally wow me. I’m so happy that you guys dug it, I really am, but. But I will say just because other people including myself have criticisms, such as the film’s CGI, that doesn’t mean I’m automatically a toxic hater against Rachel Zegler. This is why real life drama and films need to be separated.

Marvel films are all the same. Basic plot lines, awful acting performances & badly written villians that we all know will inevitably be defeated. Predictable copy, paste films.

In regards to Cam’s comments about Doom, yes one of his defining character traits is that he NEVER takes his mask/armor off. And there’s legitimate NARRATIVE reason behind why In terms of his abilities, the best way I can describe him is like a mix of Reed Richards, Iron Man and Dr. Strange. He’s supremely intelligent, has a very powerful suit of armor, and is near Strange’s level in terms of his prowess with the mystic arts. A defining character trait for him is that he grew up in a Romani camp in his country of Latveria (that he eventually becomes monarch of). But basically his mother was a witch and made a deal with Mephisto (it’s a long story lol) but of course it didn’t go as intended and so Victor lost both his mother and father at a very young age so he began trying to learn the mystic arts, along with being hyper intelligent in terms of his scientific advancements/creations. If you want to get a more in depth look at the character, I’d HIGHLY encourage you both to look up the “Books of Doom”. It’s a 6 issue miniseries exploring his backstory in depth. There’s also some videos on YT that summarize this miniseries

Fair warning, long comment incoming cuz I have A LOT of thoughts about RDJ I was excited about LITERALLY everything else during comic con, especially surrounding F4. And then the RDJ as Doom announcement happened lol. I really don't like the decision at all. RDJ is obviously a great actor and it's not that l'd doubt his performance. It's the fact that no matter how great the character is written and acted, Doom as a character is ALWAYS going to live in the shadow of Iron Man now since RDJ is playing him, rather than being a strong character on his own merits with a different great actor. Not to mention, I highly doubt RDJ plays Doom for a decade. So this means either Doom is getting killed off in Secret Wars after just a couple appearances, or they'll recast Doom in the soft reboot from Secret Wars taking place. Neither one is an ideal scenario imo. Cuz what would be the point of him playing the character a couple times to then just recast going forward? Idk this just reeks of pure desperation and trying to create buzz toh. I think people are only excited that RDJ is back in general, not for the fact he's playing Doom It also shows that Doom is simply a backup plan to Kang, which is also undermining the character imo. If you ask a lot of Marvel comic fans, I reckon a high % of people would say (myself included) that Doom is THE Marvel villain. For goodness sake Doom was somewhat of an inspiration for the creation of DARTH VADER. Doom is literally on the same intelligence as Reed Richards, has a suit of armor superior to that of Iron Man, and is near Dr. Strange’s level in terms of his prowess with the mystic arts. Which is something else. An integral part of Doom’s character is his Romani roots and the fact his mother was a witch. His fictional country of Latveria is basically Romania for a real world comparison. I somehow doubt they’re gonna keep his Romani roots in tact given RDJ is playing the character, which basically destroys a big foundational piece of the character already. Idk man, I’d love to be proven wrong but there’s not much about this move that makes me confident

Fun Fact for Cam: When I did the WB studio tour in 2004, I got to see the Friends soundstage just after the show had ended. The Central Perk set was still completely in tact! The guide even mentioned that the crew was about the strike the set to prep for the Joey spin-off.

I think this may just be my favorite episode of this podcast-you both gave really good input on not only the film industry but the world as a whole and the generation we are in today. I’m scared of the future & for film itself. Film is something I absolutely love and it’s my career choice but sometimes it’s hard to love it because so many people are biased and love to hate for no reason nowadays. I hate when people come at me for liking a movie that they don’t-like that’s cool if YOU don’t like it but I DO and for my own personal reasons so PLEASE leave me alone. It’s sickening.
