Does anyone know what the part number is for Ford Escape Hybrid? I can't seem to find it anywhere. All major part resellers point me to a cabin filter.
@darylturcott10 сағат бұрын
It is called a cabin filter, which can be confusing. This is the one I buy amzn.to/3VlCtvV CF11279 is the Fram number.

Hi I’ve seen a couple of your videos and I find them very informative. They’re easy to follow and understand. I have a question for you if I may. I was going to tighten the brass and silver screws on the socket because the lamps not turning on. When I took the sleeve off I found that there were no screws that I could see. They seem to be like in a housing that the cord goes right into. I was wondering what kind of switch that is and can I open it? Thank you Patrick
Thanks for the video. Do you recommend replacing spark plug wires on this vehicle as well?

I'm the kind of person who waits for a problem to develop. I don't consider coils or oxygen sensors as maintenance items but some mechanics do.

I like that you did a price comparison at the end. Unless I need a part same day, I buy all my parts at Rock Auto, saving $$$$$$$ verses buying at local parts stores. I try to support local when I can but the savings from R/A cannot be passed up. These supports at R/A were $12 each compared to the same support for $22 each at O'Reilly. Even with shipping I saved about $15.
@darylturcott2 күн бұрын
True. I don't consider the big chains really local but they do provide some mediocre employment and have good warranty.

My code was o2 heating circuit fault. I used cheap amazon sensors they tend to last 1 to 2 years. amzn.to/4fVKH5M Denso $57 Bosch a little more but I think they are OEM. amzn.to/3OlmRVj verify which size you need. If you decide to do o2 sensors I recommend doing both.

Can remember our dad taking my brothers and I to the Pontiac mall when it first opened. My dad bought many pairs of shoes for us kids in the Father and Sons shoe store in the mall. It is amazing malls around the country have given way to online shopping. How things have changed. I still live close to where the mall was located. Many acres are left baron after the dismantling of the mall. I am now 70, and when I hired into General Motors Truck and Bus plant at the age of 18, Pontiac was booming, and jobs were plentiful due to all the auto plants going full tilt. Just as the Pontiac Mall faded into oblivion, so did all the auto plants. Before I retired in 2002, I was on brake sitting outside of the old plant 2 building enjoying my coffee, my guess would be around the year 1995, and I was observing the many buildings that were part of the then Pontiac Truck plants. Out of the blue a voice within me spoke these words; in the not-too-distant future everything you see before you will be gone. At the time those words were spoken to me, I could not wrap my head around such a thought. Those words were indeed prophetic, and for whatever reason the Eternal wanted me to know the future of where I worked. Just as I was told, there is nothing left of the once mighty and bustling Bus and Truck facility. Amazing, for sure.

That is quite a memory. My great grandfather worked truck & bus. My uncle at Fischer body. The families all lived on the south east side. Sanford, raeburn, going areas. You worked through a lot of difficult times. I worked for Ford from 99 until 24. Mostly good times, only 1 scary layoff.

@@darylturcott The amazing thing about my 30 years working at the T&B plants, I never seen any long-term layoffs. When GM shifted to the RTS all stainless-steel bus in 76, in the first few years of production until parts and other problems were sorted out, we would be shutdowns for a few months at a time. I was young then and drawing unemployment when not working so it was like a vacation for me. In all my 30 years of service for GM, that was the only times I was not working. It is amazing how quickly 30 years passed. I live in Waterford now. Don't drive in the Pontiac area much anymore. Like most everyone else, I do much of my shopping online. Oh yes, another thing I forgot to mention concerning working at the T&B plants. My dad's dad, my grandfather, my dad, myself and my older brother all worked in the same department 3710, in which we all had the same foreman, Barny Christian. Three generations worked for the same foreman. Barney retired around the same time the shift from the city bus production ended and the RTS bus started in 76. He was good old guy to work for. Well, hope you and family have an enjoyable thanksgiving. And go Lions!

So my advice to the DYers is to replace your O2 sensors about every 50,000 miles or so. Don’t wait for a check engine light to come in for an O2 sensor trouble code. Like I said earlier my car is responding better, runs smoother and is getting better mileage.
@ronjohnson122017 күн бұрын
I wanted to thank you for the video on replacing your O2 sensors. I did not have any engine trouble codes in but with 147,000 miles on the vehicle I decided to replace the sensors. I had trouble with the female connector to the upstream sensor (two plastic inner pieces) were preventing the male to seat properly with the female. I went MOOG sensors instead of the Denso brand and everything works better now. My idle is better the engine runs smoother and I can see my MPG pick up faster

I found one bit of info from this really helpful, which is the idea of cutting the pop up with a dremel to remove the old drain. It's completely stuck and impossible to remove from the bottom without removing the whole pedestal fixture. Cutting from above is a novel solution I haven't seen anywhere else. Wish me luck, and thanks, Daryl.
@darylturcott22 күн бұрын
Not one of my better videos but be careful you done crack the porcelain
@gaylamills299222 күн бұрын
@@darylturcott The dremel approach didn't work, I did nick the bowl, and we ended up getting a plumber. It seems that removing the pedestal is the easiest way because it's so hard to get a grip on the pipes to unstick the fittings with the tightness of the space. If I had known beforehand how the pop up was designed, another option might have been to unscrew the cap from above, but I didn't know that cap was screwed on with this older pop up style.

As most others have said - this piece demonstrates a knack for teaching, thanks. My mechanical experience is w/ dinosaurs. Last years of carbs and still some early years of eletronic ignition. 1987 Civic and 1987 Mazda truck - a few other instances of fuel injection. Alas I am generations out of touch, how did that happen... Apparently I can't get enough of the old school - most recently 1977 BMW R/100, a tinkerer's dream. Am looking at Toyota Camry of this vintage.
@darylturcott24 күн бұрын
I like older cars. My 65 buick really had no modern stuff. My 72 plymouth had ac, electronic ignition ( which I liked) and a primitive emission system. My next cars after that became throttle body then full fuel injection (never a problem). Once we got into o2 sensors, obd codes and such I learned to ignore a lit of check engine lights. Now I can't even do that because then the cruise control and remote starters won't work. All in all I still prefer carbureted engines and electronic ignition without pcm and all the engine systems.
