This is not the "Woe is me" story that Margaret and the history books made it out to be. Margaret was told that she could marry Peter, but only if she gave up all of her royal priviledges and her place in the succession line. She refused to do that on her own accord, and broke up with Peter instead. SHE MADE THE CHOICE.

this is where i feel u can spot the succes of king george the 6th as monarch and queen elizabeths failure , king george let his daughter marry the man she loved , because the when the day comes and she becomes queen she will need a strong pillar by her side despite the fact the prince phillips background was not big problem , still he let her marry phillip despite the reservations from everybody , and queen elizabeth did not have the same foresight as her father

🤣🤣🤣sometimes I just find it so funny. Camila was a ugly cheating whore. But margaret is an angel. Like I have always said if you are pretty or handsome your cheating becomes the greatest love story of sacrifice and if you ugly.....well we all know how that turns out🤣. And to be fair the church back then was much more strict and orthodox. Also princess margaret had the choice to give up all her entitlements and marry Peter but commerce is a reality baby.

I watched this for the first time ever.. last night, I'm still on season one though.. But knowing that they won't end up together is heart breaking. They obviously love and adore each other.. Her family get to be with the one they love.Her sister get to be with the one she love.. But sadly for her... She can't and it is unfair...uggghhhh...😢😭

Why is no one blaming Peter tho. He was not a responsible man. He was a royal staff. He had no morals and definitely didn’t took his job seriously. He destroyed her. I am so upset with him. he wasn’t suppose to let the relationship happen in the first place.. he knew what will happen all along and he allowed it, he even enjoyed it the media attention.

Remember this is Netflix. In real life, Margaret could have married Peter Townsend but only if she had given up all her royal privileges and rank and she wasn’t prepared to do that. At the end of the day, she valued money and royal status above the man. Not judging her. Ultimately, she was in control and made a choice.

@@gibbygoober2864Those times were different. even KING EDWARD had to abdicate his throne, misogynist may not be the correct word to use here. Plus understanding the age difference between them and how quickly Peter married a more younger woman, shows that at least from his side it was a mere infatuation towards a young blood which was done while cheating on once wife.

I am a moderate Royalist, but it is right that some things have changed within the institution. A more humane approach to love for example. One can't help but feel a lot of sympathy for Townsend and Margaret especially with the false hope they were given.

Margaret told her biographer that the main reason she chose privilege over Peter was because their long separation affected their relationship. After two years apart, her love for him wasn't as strong as it used to be. This is true, even if she managed to keep her titles and wealth. I'm sure she regretted the decision but I think for Peter's sake, it's best he didn't marry her if that's how she felt.

My favorite seen would be he is at his desk on the phone and gives her the 1 digit, he'll be finish with the call and he is all hers. Her smile was genuine. Them two would've been THE COUPLE. They are together now.

It's the love for an older gentleman. I was 19 when I fell for my husband, who was 41 at the time. Every time I watch these two on The Crown, it takes me back to that passionate time❤

One of the worlds top oncology hospitals is named after her (in Toronto). I like to think if there had been a happy ending for them we might have found the cure for cancer by now!!
