I had sent this unit in 2 times to Horizon Hobby and they fixed it. Happened again and they sent me 2 switches and I opened up and fixed myself. I now have a DX9, guess what happened? You got it, so wasn't just DX9 units. Having it happen 4 times on 2 units isn't accidental. Sounds like a design flaw. Hoping the internals are easier on the DX9 then DX6 because have to take it slow and remember what you unplug and unscrew but can be done.

Clearly, your F22 was trying to tell you what was wrong with him...... Check your powerpod once again.... if you're using another plane's powerpod, they have unique thrust angles..... yours seems to be a little on the right side, rather than a perfect 0.... The FT22 amd the mighty mini series, both are good planes, that fly perfectly well I learnt to fly with elevon setting on the FT22 it had the best landing ever....

The gopro solution is to play dumb, deny anything is wrong, blame the user's 'workflow' - until eventually the lens mod and camera grind away at each other and it starts to seat properly. Thats what they did to me - I've lost a LOT of confidence in gopro.

You are correct, this the official info I received from GoPro.com, "This is the advised that i was able to get from my Team : The troubleshooting is to push the Max Lens Mod unit towards the body of the camera while turning it into place. This compresses the Lens a bit and will help it seat. You can use some force and try it a couple of times. "
@AndrewJoachim883 жыл бұрын
Hi, not to worry, Ive had mine in Nov and faced the same. At first I thought it was a defect, but it isn’t after I read what other customers wrote and experienced the same. It took me about what it felt like 20 minutes, with really good force and attempts and after that it went in. Subsequent removing and installing again after it first fitted in are smoother and takes seconds only. The first fit however, was dreadful, but after success, life just becomes easier with it later. Unsure why GoPro made the first fit that hard... perhaps to let customers know that it’s a “virgin” unit, but that’s just simply unnecessary and created a pain point for customers who wants seamlessness.

Thanks! I made two of these and the second one I used a 1550 battery and needed more weight up front, which I believe is because I didn't use as much paint. Not sure how you fit a 2200 in the nose, my 1550 just fits with no room. This is a nice flying plane!

fairly old video now so i assume you have figured out you need more throttle at takeoff instead of low throttle then a panic throttle up as it heads nose first towards the ground :) also, id be launching it with as long a throw as your arm will allow and a slightly higher angle of attack if my ears are correct, it sounds like your running a small prop at a high speed, that also adds to the problem, the prop needs to be at a high speed to give enough thrust, this also means in flight your forced to be going much faster than you would with a bigger prop just to provide enough thrust, this will also be compounded by the heavier air frame but on a plus, the thicker board is going to be stronger! i fly mine on a 9x5 prop on a 1300kv 2830 motor
@lleemon6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve, I think I have a few other videos with more successful flights of the FT Explorer. Sad but I had two and both have been torn apart for other FT planes.
@stevefox37636 жыл бұрын
i dont have the heart to rip mine apart, i install new gear into each plane i build unless ive totally destroyed one in a crash, then i do transfer electronics. i must have around 50 10g metal gear servos, i also have no space left in my house from all the planes ha ha! i like your color scheme, simple and clean, ive seen so many that look like they were decorated by a 3 year old on psychedelic drugs lol from what i can see you use spray paint (like me) , i think this because i can see rough edges where the paint has 'bled' under the edge of the tape used to mask. i had the same problem but found the solution is to use good quality automotive insulating tape, the soft and flexible type and to make sure you pay extra attention to rubbing it with your fingers where the lines will be to make sure its absolutely stuck down. if your peeling the tape before the paint is fully dry to avoid paint crack and flake, when you peel, pull slightly towards the painted area instead of straight or away, it pulls at the soft paint away from your line instead of over it and also helps to keep the line sharp its also ok to use a little heat to aid tape removal, just enough to soften the adhesive, too much heat and you will leave adhesive stuck to the surface of the plane! using cellulose based automotive paint on these planes does add a small amount weight but it adds a massive amount of strength too and also makes the surface 5x tougher to knocks and scrapes and wipes clean with a damp cloth :) I seal all cut edges with hot glue, it really helps in getting them covered when it comes to painting them and also stops the paint making contact with naked foam and melting it!

Thanks, Yes, I have to since I don't have much space so in order to make space, tear down the planes I don't fly much. Wife likes her house not cluttered with planes. As for color, I am using FolkArt acrylic paint that I brush on. I minwax all my dtfb first. I think with this plane I was using the blue tape, I have found lately that the yellow tape is better and does well with bleeding and comes off easy. Thanks for the other suggestions.
