So you’re fishing the knees west of black hammock. Everybody rapes that area. Lol. Why didn’t you fish the soldiers creek pads ??

I have to agree with Bob when it comes to the National Tournament Orginizations working together. When they view each other as competitors, and trying to out do each other to get more for themselves, they are not helping the crappie fishing industry at all. Bob's willingness to be CREATIVE and COOPERATIVE is the right direction to go for the future of not just crappie fishing, but the whole fishing industry.

I fished that general area back in the early 1990s. I put in at Low Falls. Back then the grass mats were much worse and made navigation difficult. I fished "around" the grass and only caught a few. Then I saw some locals run their boat onto the grass mats. They left their motor running and used a rake similar to the one in the video to make holes to fish through. Then they beat the grass all around them. After that, they shut off the motor and started fishing through the holes they made. They would catch five or six and they'd stop biting. Then they would start the motor and begin beating the grass for a few minutes and then start back fishing. They'd fish till they stopped biting and repeat. We pulled up in the grass after they left and beat the grass with a boat paddle and fished through the holes they made. We wore them out. It also works for shellcrackers and bream in general. The locals say the running motor and beating of the grass dislodged freshwater shrimp from the grass and triggered a feeding frenzy.

Before all the rich people from Dallas built houses all around the lake and ruined it, there was a huge Marina, and campgrounds. The cove near the bridge had a giant water slide, diving boards, and rope swings. There was a indoor dock that was loaded with crappie. You could go in there at 6:00 in the morning and catch a limit in less than an hour. Sad that it's all gone now.
