There was a climber with Himalyan experience that died at 13,500 feet on Mt Rainier from altitude sickness turned pulmonary edema. This wasn't on the tourist route, it was on the route of no return. There was no way to get him down the mountain. I think Kilamanjaro climbers need glacier experience first. I climbed Pico de Orizaba, Popocatépetl, and Iztaccíhuatl. Aconcagua was on my list, but then I got a job.

I dont thé story you talk about but Rainer has huge elevation gain that surprises a lot of people. So is edema possible on Rainer? Yes! You don’t need glacier experience in Kilimanjaro because you don’t hit any glaciers.

Thanks for the video. I put my climbing videos on Slow Boat Sailing. I did Pico de Orizaba and Kili this last year. I like backpacking and have done several 14ers. I’m debating doing Aconcagua with logististics so I can take the acclimatization slowly, if I can spare the money for the trip this December. I bought all the gear already. I like to run my own expeditions. I might get an alti tent to acclimitize to conflencia if I can find a deal on a generator.

No need for generator. Just rent one from one of the basecamp operators at Plaza de Mulas.

Just started tracking glucose and ketones with Keto Mojo. It's enlightening to see the numbers & use myself as an experiment, but I wasn't prepares for my disappointment when numbers aren't in range. Interesting psychological piece I may have to navigate! (Information is the best way to know when to change something.) I was looking for thoughts on best times to test, & found this. Thanks.

How long did it take you to adapt? I am still doing 20g or less carbs since July 2016. I still am not adapted, fasting glucose between 88-98 and fasting ketones between 2.0 and 3.6

Kimberly Sayler its different for everyone. I've seen some take weeks, some to up to a year. Depends on age and stress loading.

Thanks! Watching your other video on finding your baseline, answered my question. My blood glucose is not regulated yet. Therefore I am not keto adapted as I suspected. This gives me hope to stay on the diet, even though I have only lost 7 pounds since July. I am 54 and I am feeling much better, no edema and arthritis is almost gone. So the diet is working, I just had a lot of damage. I only have 20 pounds to lose, so I will continue on:)

Just came across this channel! Out of curiosity of finding ketogenic videos! I've done what I thought being of keto for 3+ years I'm 23 now, meaning usually protein for me as to me always kept at 150g a day and fat hovers at 120-150 carbs are just broccoli! Wow I really need to re evaluate MY adaptation phase again! Love to hear your feedback! Be blessed

David Mireles sounds like PRO is to high. You need to get your liver to adjust slowly to lower pro then higher eventually as long as blood glucose does not spike.
