I think the issue is on your end. Check your audio output settings. Sometimes it will switch to a monitor.

two of the most wanted features for me are to be able to enter the material from outside in the Horizontal Area toolpath (basically act like open pocket toolpaths) as well as having a "machine flat faces" checkbox in 3d optirough and normal area roughing. Horizontal area currently has a huge flaw, sometimes it doesnt machine faces if they are small enough even though they could be easily machined if the tool would enter from the outside. And optirough you can only have huge stepdowns with the same stepups to machine flat faces but then have no stepups or huge stepdowns with small stepups but then it doesnt machine flat faces or you have to use small stepdowns with the same stepups which most of the time is not good.

Can't comment too much on Area Mill as I rarely find use cases outside of using Optirough. We didn't cover it this preview webinar but 2023 is adding, "Automatically Detecting and Including Stock for Z Depths" and "Machining at Maximum Depth" to Optirough, and Rest Rough stock model improvements. Those changes and you have 'included flats' selected on the Optirough parameters page, should solve a lot of that described issue. Get your pain there trying to pickup the right depths on flats. Not sure who your local reseller is, but might want to have them take a look at one of your files with that issue and how it processes in 2023.

We do molds which have many parts and export every part individually from our Cad software. When i import one part into mastercam it isnt at the same position as it was in the assembly. It would be useful if mastercam would import models relative to the global zero point so every individually exported model from the same assembly would be imported into mastercam at the same correct position.

Curious to why that matters? Mastercam is basing the position on the machine zero as that won't be relative to the CAD assembly. You could import the Assembly file and everything would be in the correct location then you could set work offsets based on which machines are assigned to certain components of the assembly but adds additional complexity I'm not sure is needed.

sometimes, when i import a step file it says something like solidimport failed and then i can choose between creating surfaces or repairing the model and import as solid (import as solid takes a really long time so mostly not do it). it says something like this can happen if the CAD program handles something as a sheet, what could this possibly be? I can try to make a photo of the error message next week and then accurately describe the error if you need to.

You'll want to reach out to your local reseller, lots of factors determine how cleanly a solid model imports and how many times it's been translated from it's original native format. Your best bet is to always try and get whatever file format it was before a generic step format.

I have a question. I'm new to using Mastercam 2021. say for instance. I program a 2-inch diameter bore on a lathe 3 inches deep. after the finish cut, the Boring Bar rips through the part returning to home. even if I define an endpoint. how can I correct this.?

Hi Kevin, in the toolpath on screen or in the G-code? If in Mastercam make sure you use Stock for outer boundary and lead out settings are correct. If in the code but not Mastercam it could be some post settings. But your best bet is to talk to your local reseller and have them look at the file.
