Great job, I want to build one but cannot find the full materials list, can you send it or tell me where it is located in the description. I agree with the others about the music. It is ok but it drowns out the commentary. Keep up the good work.

Thanks. There's a parts list right at the bottom of the description (expand it and it you should see the full description.). Honestly I made this so long ago I can't remember the details but it's fair to say I would change how I edit the video these days. On the plus side I am still using the same controller and it works perfectly! I would probably 3D print a nicer enclosure now since the tech has become so much more accessible.

It's a Givi E45, really useful size without being too big on the bike and can be used as panniers too. I bought it second hand on ebay, I think they have been discontinued now unfortunately.

Pointless design. Can only do ~1" cuts. Just buy the Kreg ripping jig.
@kraftybeard42724 жыл бұрын
In the video description I explain that the jig was built for a specific project. The project required cutting many thin strips of maple ply the same size to be laminated showing the end grain. The jig worked perfectly for my project and cost nothing to make. Obviously for larger cuts something like a track saw with a jig would be better, I'm all about making the tools you already have work for you especially if you are a DIYer.

Way too complex and imprecise. There are better methods: simpler and more precise.
@kraftybeard42724 жыл бұрын
Specialist tools? You could make this with a drill, hacksaw and a screwdriver, I just used tools I already have for convenience. The materials are all scrap so cost me nothing. If you don't have angle iron you can get away with not using it the jig just wont last as long. I would love to see these cheaper, easier more precise methods, always interested to see what other people are making.

@@kraftybeard4272 Here is a good example kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4S9cmNpebt8iqM Anything more complex, and you will better get a dowel jig for $25 on amazon.

@@viewer7200 Nicely made video and props to the guy for making things and sharing his work. The jig doesn't really do it for me personally. You would need to make one for every size drill bit that you use regularly. Any soft material like MDF will just wear out of true very quickly. You also need to drill a perfectly straight hole freehand in the first place to make the jig, and if you screw up you're starting all over again. With my jig if you are a little bit out when you cut the wood you can bring it into square with a rubbing down block. The angle iron gives you a straight reference from the off. If cutting a V into a bit of scrap wood and screwing some angle iron to it is too much effort for people I doubt they will make much else.
@viewer72004 жыл бұрын
@@kraftybeard4272 I already made two of these jigs for 2mm bit. The first one, was slightly off, but the 2nd is spot on. FYI, no need to make one for every size. Drill many straight holes with one jig in a block of wood, then take other sizes and drill the new guide holes. Also, no need to drill perfectly straight in each slice of the MDF material. Crooked holes stacked in a pile will auto-correct when you push the bit through the stack to straighten it... I'll make an amendment video to illustrate what I mean.

if you can cut a perfect 90 degree notch with accurate 90 degrees faces to the base with a handsaw, you do not need a 90 degree drilling jig!

If you don't mind damaging the life of your drill bits.

I mostly use HSS drill bits which are designed to be able to drill through steel etc so just running them gently along a piece of steel angle shouldn't really impact their life noticeably.
