I have 2001 Chevy Tahoe LT auto I have to replace the front shocks on mines yours look similar to mines , it seems I can’t find the correct shocks for this auto ride I really appreciate the video I will go on rockauto and order it

Absolutely. I loved mine. Talked myself into selling to pay for some remodeling. I wish I'd have gotten a,loan for the remodeling. I'll never find another 06 3500 CCLB in that condition again. Super easy to work on. I still cry alot

My truck was randomly stalling and finally threw the cps code ..I tried to push from the bottom and broke the ear off for the bolt…made an identical set up as your video and popped it right out..total job time 40 minutes…this video is the perfect tutorial 😁😁😁😎😎😎🤑🤑🤑

Thanks for the part numbers and great explanation of what's going on. Just bought shocks from the parts store, then discovered the lack of electrical connector, and now here I am learning that the already outrageous $325 I spent on shocks is actually only 1/3 the cost of the shocks I actually need. Just gonna return the new ones and suffer with the old shocks for awhile I guess, can't justify $1k for shocks, especially with gas approaching $5/gal. All that being said, thank you again for the information, I really appreciate it.

Great Method. Use lots of PB blaster and be in it for the long haul no rushing here plastic is old and Brittle. Managed to creep it out over two days then finally it relented lots of patience and even pressure. Watched all the vids on replacement and this is the best way seems impossible when you first start jamming you arm into these tiny spaces. Runs like a champ again 02 Silverado 3500. I had no engine light but all the symptoms stalling, rough idle even some shifting issues.

This happened on my 2002 Sierra at about 125k miles and had to replace it. It lasted until now with 295k miles and I have to replace it again....

Great Video. From what I understand, all 2500 Yukon XL's / Suburban's (2000 - 2006) with the Autoride system have electronic shocks, not air shocks / compressor system. You are absolutely correct, these electronic shocks are "shockingly" expensive. I bought front's (from RockAuto for $240 each) because one of the seals blew out. I also replaced the bump stops because they were disintegrating, which might have accelerated the right front shock from blowing out the seal. I agree with the others, the OEM shocks are better then aftermarket ones by a long shot.

worked great. fortunately mine was replaced before and it was performed on my RV with easy access from under engine cover. Thankyou for the post. Definitely apply grease or oil to gasket on new product ring. a firm push for me. i can totally see the grunting when back behind your engine.

I am thinking of pulling the intake manifold on my 2002 Chevy Suburban with this 8.1 liter engine to replace the intake manifold gaskets to try to correct the consumption of a quart of oil per 1000 miles issue that some of these engines are also known for. I was also thinking of replacing the Crankshaft Position Sensor at the same time for preventive maintenance. Do any of you know if the CPI would be a lot easier to get at with the intake manifold removed?

I'm having a hard time compressing the bushings as well, how long did it take you to compress them to expose the threaded shaft to plug in the sensor?

Just replaced the Crank Sensor on my 02' 2500HD 8.1 and it still stumbles occasionally and stalls the same as it did before. It will start right back up and run for hours fine after. I got the OEM ACDelco part and it looked identical to the one that was in the truck. No codes are being set however I have two intermittent codes when I read it with my scanner P0101 and P0107 MAF and MAP codes. My wiring harness all looks intact and I wiggled every connector and plug wire while the truck was idling, still nothing. I also viewed the RPM signal and MAF signal when it was stumbling and they both were working no spikes are drops in the signal.. What else could cause the truck to just die? Cam sensor? Fuel pump/relay?

Hello Waffeey! I have a 02 GMC 3500 dually 8.1/Allison and Im having the same exact problem and I took off my throttle body and cleaned it really good and put it back on. It helped alot but still turrns off every now and then but if Im driving it normal, it runs perfect, but if I start to floor it to make it down shift, sometimes when I hit big bumps or pot holes and especially when I'm towing my car hauler and the trailer jerks my truck to much, it will stall. I've changed my CPS, Camshaft and throttle body position sensor about 2 yrs ago so I doubt its all of the about. I read up on it and found some some articles that make sense. So Im gonna try my Mass Air Flow and Map sensors which I have never messed with so as soon as I do them I will post the answer. I've heard that when all these sensor are changed, the computer has to be reset. I really dont know about that but cleaning the throttle body did help alot and made a difference. Thank you?

@@galdinorodriguez1722 I tried replaced my MAF sensor with no luck, then I did some posting on the forums and I was given the tip to check the intake manifold bolts as they come loose. 4 out of 8 bolts were loose and the truck ran much better after I torqued them down to 10ft/lbs. It didn't stall or stumble for awhile but their both back now unfortunately. I just threw a check engine light when I was towing so depending on what that code is I will likely follow what it was set for. Shame as the truck runs great otherwise. I'll get back to you if I fix it.

@@z33tanner oh ok!👍 yes, my engine light comes on when it feels like it and I did forget to mention that I also replaced my passenger side manifold gasket due to the front bolts coming loose made my engine have a big exhaust leak. Also help a little more after doing that. I do have 3 studs broken in the head but Im gonna fabricate a bracket to help the manifold stay even tighter to the head. I made one for my other 8.1L in my 01 GMC Yukon Xl and that bracket will fix that leak problem. My cell is 210-216-1785. If you want, call me or txt me tomorrow or when you can and I'll send you a picture of the bracket. Aside all this problem about my dually stalling, she runs like a beast and she has never let me down for being my daily driver, best powertrain I've owned and most reliable. I will keep you posted too👍

I have taken my 2003 suburban 2500 LT to a few shops and non have been able to find the auto ride shocks. Hope your part number helps

You will be happy with the grand you spent on the factory units. I replaced mine about 4 years ago and when with Monroe units at the tune of 180.00 per corner. They were fine for about 50k and then they just turned to junk. I just though the bushings were a bit loose... NO the shocks are falling apart. I got 130K out of the OEM units before the seals went out. I'm at 190k right now and your vid just sold me on the OEM pieces. I'm going to keep this gas pig regardless, since its the only thing out there that can pull 14k without going to a diesel. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing this video. I have the exact vehicle only difference it is a 2002. I don't have the "Autoride" label on the outside and did not even know I had it until I was getting new tires today and inquiring about replacing my shocks. I was thinking what others have done that the autoride had to have the compressor. I did confirm with my RPO sticker and do have the Z55. Are you still glad you went this route staying with the OEM replacement shocks versus disabling the electronic autoride and going with traditional shocks? Also, that pic looks like Mt. Shasta, our grandparents used to live in Weed, CA, use to visit every summer, beautiful country up there in Northern California.

Did mine on a 2001 motorhome. Much easier pop the dog house and better access. Worked 1/2 out and it went pop. Uh oh, won't go in or come out. Soaked with pb blaster and let it set. Got it phew!

Keith Alexander I have the 8.1 liter 496 Big Block in a 2001 motorhome( r-vision) as well are you being serious when you say it's easier to access the component from the doghouse????? If so I want to be sure...... I don't want to waste my time taking the dog house off and having to access it from underneath so I was hoping you could definitely let me know that it's easier to access from the dog house.... because every single video online and even a Chevy repair manual says to access it from underneath?? Help me understand brother!!! It's important to me as I live in this it's my home

It can be changed by removing the doghouse...I just done mine in a 2001 Damon 8100 496..Be very careful to not break it off in the block...And so you know the plastic is very brittle..

Thanks for the video, did mine yesterday and the cable trick worked except the top broke off. Thanks a lot. Yea it broke off flush with the block leaving three metal strips up. Took a break, had a Coke circled the truck a few times then grubed a small vise grips and clamped it on to one of those metal strips, wench down and it popped up 1/4 inch. More wiggling and pulling and it was out. Thanks again for the video. 2001 Sliverado 2500HD with a Allison transmission

Thanks a bunch for posting this, i am really hoping changing out mine will solve my problem, i have a 2002 GMC Sierra 2500hd with the gas 8.1 and allison transmission 114k miles, i am so frustrated with it, i love it so much, it starts and runs like a champ, but every few days i'll be driviing down the road and it will just stall out, i'll have to slowly pull off the road, put it back in park, crank it over and over and after about a min or two it firers right back up and it runs fine for the rest of the day, what really stinks is the check engine won't come on so i can scan the damn thing, i've already installed brand new fuel pump, plugs, coil packs on all cylinders and i'm now running Ethenol free gasoline, its an awesome truck, it has the allison transmission and pulls anything i hook up to, would anyone have any idea what to change next?? Thank You, and God Bless

Thanks for the video ,I may tackle my Silverado soon. I believe the Silverado version is easier because the body is setting 2 inches higher on the taller frame so there's more room in there to start with...my fuel lines rotted out last year I replaced with plastic lines not sure if the old ones will be an issue or not.

I JUST DID THE 8.1 SILVERADO THIS MORNING, AND I GOT IT OUT LIKE A CHAMP!!!! I DISCONNECTED THE FUEL CONNECTORS AND PUSHED THEM OVER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AND TOOK OUT THE GROUND STRAP BOLT AND PUSHED THE GROUNDS ASIDE. I REMOVED THE REAR COIL AND UNPLUGGED THE CPS CONNECTOR. USED A 10MM STUBBY WRENCH AND GOT THE BOLT OUT FOR THE SENSOR. I THEN TWISTED THE CPS BACK AND FORTH AND SPRAYED REPENTANT ALL OVER THE SENSOR AREA. I STRAPPED A LITTLE WIRE AROUND THE SENSOR HEAD AND USED A CROWSFOOT BAR AND A PIECE OF WOOD. I PUT PRESSURE UP ON THE SENSOR AND ROTATED AND IT POPPED RIGHT OUT.

What made you decide to replace it at all? I've had a cylinder 7 misfire for over 5 weeks now. cane outta no where on first of the day start up. I replaced the 7th coil pack, and bank 1 O2 sensor, and plugs, and still cylinder 7 misfire.
