Nuhu! It's still BAD, they recorded it ahead of time, but they never calculated how much would the people get involved with Tracy before even meeting her: Tracy was more than "The mother" or Ted's wife... she represented de goal... the end of Ted's vicious cicle of failed relationships, in a sense: she was Ted's saviour. When she dies ted goes back to try a THIRD time with Robin, (a relationship the showrunners made an ecxellent job on declaring dead), and the Vicious Cicle starts again, we already know Robin, we know how indecisive she is and we know it will not last (again). Ted as a character is Doomed without Tracey. And the end is also bad for Robin: as she never gets her growing out of being so indesicive and afraid of long term relationships. She stays the same even after the ending, with her dogs

Guys it was obvious you never saw or heard her speak in the background during all the seasons. I personally thought that either they had divorced or she had died. It was so obvious that she wasn't a part of that future where Ted was

I’ve always loved the finale and will die defending it. When I saw it, I cried tears of joy, sadness and bittersweetness. I predicted the finale for the same reason this video tells, they were never afraid to show deep, serious themes. In the very first episode you knew Ted and robin would end up together, and as much as you hate that, that does not take away from their genuine love they felt when they were with their spouses. This show left a trail of a million clues that led to the perfect ending. I will say this and take this to my grave, if you didn’t like the finale, then you never captured the essence of the show. in other words, you were never a true fan.

I agree with you, it was a very interesting idea and good themes. It was just poorly executed, because all this came out of nowhere and too quickly, it was essentially another 2-3 seasons worth of character arcs squished into one episode, so they didn't feel natural and well built. It was also locked into that ending for about 8 years because they had to record the future kids scenes during season 2 so they their age would be consistent, but that meant they couldn't adapt the ending to how the characters and plot and tone of the show evolved over all those years.

you wrong this is the worst finale ever, what is the lesson of this show? if you meet your true love and that person dies don't give a fuck about it,go after that person, for whom you was into, but that person felt the half of it for you and also this is a COMEDY SHOW,should not close with a tragic finale like this-its like in Romeo and Juliet they are wake up,after they died and everyone starts to laughing.

the ending feels forced, way to long and way to short all at the same time where characters do stuff they don't normally do just so the story can advance. Ted being an asshole loser the whole season trying to steal robin back cause he's lonely. i was gonna rewatch it recently but then I remembered how shit the ending was.

This pilot episode can only be considered good if the person watching it has never seen ATLA before. Yes, it is wildly different and it has a much quicker pace, but it also completely ignores the things that made us fall in love with the world/characters. "I'm the Avatar, and you gotta deal with it!" There is just no way that this episode can seriously be something worth learning from specifically comparing it to ATLA.

It’s the contradictions that ruin the finale, not the events in the finale themselves. Barney and Robin break up and Barney goes back to his old ways destroying all his character growth only to have him re-learn the lesson when he has a baby. The German guy telling Ted about the one and how he will know instantly, which was the Mother only to have him go back to Robin in the end negating all that talk about someone close to being the one vs the one. Going back to Robin after an entire episode of Ted metaphorically letting her go. The finale can’t be viewed in a vacuum. That’s why it’s disliked.

I’m glad someone gets it. So many people say they prefer the alternate ending but to me that’s just silly. So much of the show becomes absolutely pointless with the alternate ending. The original ending is the most thematically consistent. If you go back and rewatch the show it’s all there.

I love the narrative you put into this video, however I would beg to differ since, I’m not mad that Robin and Barney divorced, neither that Ted and Robin end up together, however, I am with this, bad taste that in order to keep up with the finale they had to ruin Barney’s character, some people say Barney’s “true nature” showed but Barney’s true nature (if we go there) is some sweet innocent boy before Shanon broke his heart, he CHANGED in order to cope, as soon as they work their issues (Barney and Robin) they show through the entire 9th season how they’ve managed to have a successful relationship, they both change and evolve together for the best, I’m just mad Barney and Robin had poor writing in the last episode and they were two of the characters with the most amazing and well written development. Of course, it’s better to justify the ending, but as a viewer I don’t think I will ever stop watching the finale as an idea that got out of hand in order to keep the kids looking the same age. (I don’t mean to debate with anyone, it’s just my view in the matter)

The problem with the finale is that there is an unnecessary time jump. I don't know why shows continue to do time jumps to show how characters are in the future when we don't get to see how they got there. It's like meeting an old friend after years, except for the fact that you just saw your friend 2 minutes ago. It feels weird and time jumps in finales are rarely satisfying, they mostly ruin how we see a character. Revivals also have this effect on me, time-jumping 10 years in the future with a weird ass story. My main example is Gilmore Girls. Great show, great story, good finale overall, TERRIBLE revival. It totally ruined the characters for me.

Actually, the actor who played ted, had stated that they had to cut many scenes that alot of fans (including me) wanted to see, and this was due to the time slots. I personally thought the ending of the show had a great conclusion. the only issue I had with the finale, would be the excution. The idea of the mother dying was actually brillianty realstic, plus it had been foreshadowed though out the series.
