The one thing I am so annoyed by in this video is that it doesn’t talk about situations like it feels like all he’s doing is saying what’s going through his head while solving which can be helpful but in certain situations where his cube is perfect he doesn’t say anything about what I actually need to

Great vid! At least I know how difficult it is, and how many algorithms you have to memorize 😄 I’m a recent retiree who decided to learn the Rubik’s Cube. Yes, for the first time in my life! 😜 I learned the method that WIRED’s Robbie Gonzalez learned from Tyson Mao in the course of making a report on competitive cubing (please searche WIRED’s KZbin channel). It’s one of the basic method that Simon mentions where you build one layer at a time. I’ve gotten my average time down from 4 min. to 1:20 (Robbie says he’s now just under a minute), and I was looking for speed cubing videos like this to see if I could go even faster. But now on second thought, I’ll be happy that I can just solve it for the first time in my life. I’ll leave these speed algorithms to you young ‘uns who have greater cognitive abilities 😁
