Great video! I’m still terrified I’m gonna mess something up on my already loaded super 64 cart. I just want to add the xeno crisis rom since it was free when I purchased the physical cart. Is it as easy as grabbing the file and throwing it on the list outside of the main folder as you did here? Thanks
@ProgrammingPeanut22 күн бұрын
You can add valid ROM files outside the ED64P folder. If your card ever stops working for whatever reason (like wear and tear for example) you can just buy another memory card and follow the steps in the video. Or just make a copy of it now using an application like Etcher.

Yeah I don't think I would use the program your using. I'd just rather use an assembler. The problem is that I don't know how to use one.... I mean I know how to do basic programming in 6502 assembly but I just don't know how to get the assembler to work without someone's help. Yeah but seeing that program you were using really brought back memories of this program I used to use called game maker. I faintly remember the actual UI of the program, but I very, VERY clearly remember all the stuff I made in it. It was a good way to introduce younger teenage me into making games, but nowadays I would just either use an assembler or Visual Basic. Those game making programs are way too restrictive in retrospective.
@ProgrammingPeanutАй бұрын
@@thardump859 NESMaker does have its limitations that's true. I think it's a good tool for beginners or people who don't know much about programming. Knowing 6502 and understanding the NES hardware is difficult and time consuming so it's a good alternative. If you can program in 6502 that's awesome!

What would be the easiest and safest way to clone my preloaded sd card in my ed94plus as a backup? Do I use something like etcher or do i simply drag copy the files over manually. Thanks in advance.
@ProgrammingPeanutАй бұрын
I would recommend keeping a backup of the ED64 file. As long as you have that stored somewhere you can always just set up a new memory card later if needed. Hope that helps!

Cool video, could you go more in depth on the "default settings" for your printer. When I hit print it will print the label on a full page. Also I noticed your labels are a little smaller than the slot on the GBA cartridge. Is there a way to make them a teeny bit bigger to fit the actual cartridge to make it look more original. Thanks!
@ProgrammingPeanutАй бұрын
Hello. The file should already have the size fixed. Did you modify the size or anything similar? Also the reason they look a little smaller might be because I hand cut them for the video but it's best to use a professional cutting machine if you have one. If you're interested in professional looking labels I do sell them on my Ebay and Etsy store. Is there a particular label you're looking for? www.ebay.com/usr/goobergames www.etsy.com/shop/GooberGames

Very informative however personally I'd rather make SNES games. It would be more work but the graphics and sound on SNES holds up better than the 8-bit NES.

I simply print two cardstock 8.5 x 11 sheets, one for left side and front and one for right side and back. I then use double sided rape and join two together, then join to create the box. Yes, it then has two seems, but it can be done on any printer.

hey quick question, i was watching a random video about making a nes game and the guy said they cut the sprites then mirrored the image to reduce data and make more room for larger levels and more sprites. does that make any sense? i cant find the video
@ProgrammingPeanut3 ай бұрын
That's correct! However if you're using NES maker you don't have to worry too much about memory constraints because it's a modern tool especially if you're using their own cartridges. If you're programming the game the OLD school way using nothing but a text editor then you absolutely have to be aware of how much memory your game is using up.
