I love how he fit a 427 stroker in the car without doing a shock tower delete ...

@bjsteg79 Ай бұрын
It's a windsor block 427. Take a 351 (302 with a 1" taller deck), bore and stroke it out with a kit, viola! You have a 427 that will fit where a 302 will fit.

@bjsteg79
@bjsteg79 Ай бұрын
@@chriscomer1472 I'd start with a standard 351 roller. Drive the car for a couple years and sort out everything, because there will be linkage issues, heating/cooling things to sort out, drivetrain fixes or tweaks, suspension & steering adjustments...etc. Then when you feel ballsy, go for a the 427 build. Stroked motors tend to overheat, the 347 is the max on a stock 302 block. 302s have a tendency to split in half (literally) when you start pushing 450 ft/lbs torque. 427 stroke is the max on a ford 351 block; a 408 is actually pretty stable and still putting down 500-600 hp with good heads & cam. If you get a man-o-war or dart block, you can stroke the 351 out to a 458/460, which is big block territory and 150lbs less weight in the nose.

"We got the uhhh pan hardrod" man, it kinda irks me when guys buy their car and don't know what the heck they got. (btw, it's a panhard bar) They don't give a crap about the car, they're just worried about how they look in the car. That's not a car enthusiast.

Don't get me wrong. Not everyone has the skills or time to build their own car. Running my own business for the past 12 years, I appreciate guys laying out a build and working with shop to see it done. You can have all the money in the world, and zero time to get the car done in a timely manner. But those guys can tell you what cam is in the motor, what the lift and duration is, what jets they're running in their carb, what gear they're running...etc. They can fix the car if it breaks down on the side of a road. This guy is calling a tow truck and trash talking the shop online.

Fellow in my neighborhood has a 65 fastback sitting in his yard. It has been there for over 39 years . I don't know the history of this vehicle but from its appearance both exterior and interior it needs a lot work. He is willing to sell it but is asking far more than what it is worth. Such a shame to see it sitting there going to waste.

Yep. See that a lot. Old Classic cars with a story sitting for extended periods with no hope of being placed back in service anytime soon. When you inquire about the vehicle, it's not for sale, or the price is unreasonable .

Everybody in this thread is out of touch with current prices. 5-10k gets you a car you still will have to put another 10-15k in. Used, new, and classic cars are at an all time high.

You are referiing to an I6 engine. NOT a v6. Most cars in the 60s came with inline 6 cylinder engines and NOT V6. They came later in the mid 70s .

My grandmother bought a 1963 Galaxie 500 XL new, 390 cc. Two-door coupe, bucket seats, console shift. She paid $3,900 and kept it for over 20 years and 63 k miles. Champagne exterior and interior. Nearly every option except (oddly) no power brakes. Dealer installed AC, named Frigi-King. Worked well, but it slightly marred the interior appearance. I had no place to put the car when she sold it to a kid for maybe a few hundred dollars. I hope he enjoyed it. The "63 Galaxie 500 XL had the best and classiest styling, bar none.

Great vid. I'm planning on the same mod for my '65 fastback. I have an OEM '66 steering box with 16" ratio. It is a solid one-piece shaft. Does the entire shaft have to come out of the steering box, or can it be cut and attached to the EPAS shaft?

I got my first car in 1972, a 64 1/2 Mustang with the 170 engine. I look back fondly on it, but in all honesty, it was a terrible car to drive and maintain. I got very good at swapping out the light duty Falcon 3 spd it came with. The brakes were very iffy. Cold starts were an issue, even in the south. Steering was nothing to write home about. Still, I rubber neck everytime I see an early Mustang. In all honesty, it was probably good that I didn't have a 289 under the hood. I wasn't a wild teenager by any stretch of the imagination, but defensive driving wasn't in my vocabulary.
