I do not like to look at things I can't afford!! Those prices are not in my affordable range. Wondering what monthly payments would be for that boat you were looking at?

Interesting! A normal amount of bureaucracy associated with their project. Do they allow commercial harvest of red snapper off the east coat of Florida? Thanks

I'm looking at buying a kranken for jigging. How's the reel holding up. Any issues? I've been looking for an left hand electric reel that wouldn't break the bank.
@ReelHazardous2 күн бұрын
No issues yet but I haven’t got to use it much recently with the season being closed but I’m hoping to start using it more soon!

How much drag is too much drag?
@ReelHazardous2 күн бұрын
It depends on the hook sizes and your line. Generally I don’t go over 1/3 of the line strength but if I’m live baiting with small hogs I may do even less. For example, using small treble hooks for Kingfish I’m using 2-3 lbs of drag on 20lb line. If I were using bigger j hooks for Mahi I would increase the drag to around 6 lb.

nice video....I caught three of them by accident in NY waters while fluke fishing and never realized they come up that far north, figured out how to fillet past that bullet proof head of theirs -- but what amazing eating

Y’all Floridians ain’t use to that weather. Up north it’s normal. Only the hardcores go out which is nice

Size matters. Smaller drum is much better. Big black drum, at least in the Tampa Bay area, have more (or at least larger) parasites. While the parasites won't hurt people if they consume them, they have turned me off Red Grouper, and Amberjacks after cleaning those and encountering pockets of parasites (may be a different type) just under the skin.

It's crazy how many people don't know what an Atlantic bonito is or how good it tastes. Everybody thinks they're false albacore. Bonita, which is gross

Bigger boat will not help your casting.😅 you would just bring more crap and would end up with the same result. Take care!
@ReelHazardous13 күн бұрын
Yeah but it’s a great excuse for getting a bigger boat lol

Big black drum or redfish are edible, but not the best. Small ones are pretty tasty.
@ReelHazardous13 күн бұрын
Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I’ve had the smaller black drum before to eat but never a big one like that. Is the meat tougher or just a gamier taste?
@RStout5911 күн бұрын
@ReelHazardous Tough and more worms. The big ones are good for courtbouillin. Mostly, I turn them loose so they can breed.

Great stuff. It's interesting that the fig8 knot doesn't seem to get smaller or squeezed. A very good indication of the wire being held secure.

Hey Cap Jeremy great to see more NEFL getting the Nosara experience. We were there first week of April and caught YFT with a bonus sail and Wahoo. They were complaining about water temp and quality but made it work. Better luck next time man, we’re looking to return Nov-Jan , felt like we just missed their peak season and hope to see the lush difference in the rainy season when it’s all green and more beautiful. If you do get back I highly recommend spending a few days up at Hotel Hacienda to explore the 8 waterfalls. Maybe we can get more folks from Jax interested in the next one. Alright be safe this season. Tight Lines and see you at the scales. Brandon Campbell Ohh btw Mate David said I looked like Ricky Ryals at first glance, almost fell out the boat

good video, on 7 strand i think i use a perfection loop knot is what its called and then have a swivel that you can open and close to easily switch out rigs. I wonder how that would hold up gotta be very similar to the figure 8 knot

If you're not an irrational sea going fanatic with significant money to spare don't own a multi engine offshore boat. I have a 1998 Whaler Dauntless on a trailer I bought for 10k. By the time I put on a used 115, and new 15 kicker, fixed the hull, and rigged it for offshore it was 40k. I use it twice a week and it costs me near 20k a year to run it. It only goes downhill from there.

FWC are giving out special permits that allow some people to catch and keep 3 snapper a day for 3 days within a certain quarter. You can apply online to potentially be selected for it.

Thanks! Yes it is in the northern hemisphere but from May to December is their rainy season and considered their “winter”

A similar study was done for sake of choosing colors on jigs. Blue & green show up the most to the deepest depth red is lost past 60 ft deep. When you want it to attract get a UV version which fish see in. I use seaguar pink (less expensive) 60 lb test just 6 ft long double dropper loop rig swivel snapped to about 15 more ft of same which I FG at hm to braid which is moss green pwr pro max quatro 50 lb. The heavier ldr is for ling teeth & chafe protection with rocky bottom. Just bought 2 spools of a very interesting line - FINS 40G line in 65 lb & 45 lb they break at 80 lbs & 60 respectively. Crazy thin - more capacity on your reel. They have white moss green, chartreuse & blue.
