RBs are in resurgence! If the NFL continues on this trend, it might even unbreak PPR (though tiered is still better). j/k. I did have a minor thought that the RB cliff was real but overstated because we had a multiple year draft period where we just didn't have as many elite RBs, so the numbers might have partially reflected the fact that these mediocre to bad players just had shorter careers than elite or good players would (or possibly low mileage guys in the post RB committee era we are now in) so I bought up some old RBs for 2nd and 3rd rounders this off season. I still don't know if it is a bust strategy or not--spending 3rds on Gus Bus and Zeke instantly looks awful, but spending a 2nd and Josh Palmer or whatever or Kamara seems like a home run (and I'm sure those that bought Aaron Jones are happy). In a vacuum old RBs are still anathema to a healthy dynasty roster though.

I supposed to talk up Montgomery and then sell him, but Montgomery got 45 of his yards and his TD in OT. He was absolutely dominant in OT, but it really shows how marginal stat differentials can be in a narrow window and how it can inform our narratives--both are well worth starting the way the Lions run their offense, but IF Monty didn't get that OT, the fantasy community narrative would be that Gibbs took over, where as now it is (more accurately) discussing this as a real split. (This is a Dobbins and Gus Bus post)

Better to burn your FAAB early and have some players than wind up with money at the end of the year while losing out on players you want waiting for that one magical breakthrough player.

I'm sorry, but Stroud will be the best Rookie QB. Young is just to much of a outlier. Richardson needs a lot of work.

The redrafts are fun. Rhamondre >> Etienne imo. He's my RB1 of 2021 currently though, so I'm biased. Of course, I think I'd have 4 WRs and Pitts at the top for me, I also love the Sun God. Good show!

I like Foreman as a super low cost dart throw--if he finds a way to get work early, awesome--if he suddenly looks old or winds up a sparsely used RB2 or RB3, easy cut. Overall I don't love any Bears RB (Herbert should get 2/3rd of the work but Fields still might be their best RB) but I love the idea of spending next to nothing on guys who have shown they have done it and are also in ambiguous situations where they got a shot.

I still like Charbonnet more because I think Seattle will run the ball a prodigious amount this year, but you're selling hard on Kendre definitely has me taking another look Christian. Good stuff!

Pete Carroll has always chosen 100% based on what is on the field--remember when Russell Wilson was a rookie and was supposed to be a backup to Matt Flynn, who just won a middling but overblown/overpaid contract (especially if he became a backup). Carroll didn't care, Wilson was better. I still like Walker more, but he doesn't own the job at all.

Excellent show guys! Always love RB content and learning new names, can't wait for the rookie tournaments. Those good RBs with shit YPC had more to due with being paired with tepid QBs or in dysfunctional (at least at times) offenses.

My biggest 2021 draft regret is still taking Trevor Lawrence over Rhamondre at the 1.9 in a 1QB league where I needed a future QB. Have fucking loved him since the moment Pats drafted him.

It depends a bit on roster construction and league settings, but I think Hurts has top 5 upside at this point, vs top 10ish for Dak. Unless I'm in a SF and my other QB is risky or young, give me Hurts. In 1QB especially give me Hurts, there are alot of cheap middling guys you can pair him with. Even in deep leagues or SF you can probably get Minshew cheap.

And I still can't believe I didn't take Desmond Ridder at the 2.9. That was my hope and plan before the draft, and he was there, and somehow my dumb ass still talked myself into chasing some handcuff committee hopeful goal-line/TD guy in the moment.

Dalvin Cook turns 27 in August, is knocking on the danger zone in terms of career carries, and even if he is as healthy as he normally is, he still will probably miss 3 games or so. Alexander Mattison has some very exciting possibilities in his range of possible outcomes imo. I'm with you AJ!

This is a good episode. I think some of your advice is more applicable to most real world leagues than alot of popular fantasy commentators who play in leagues full of dynasty junkies--especially regarding doing a balanced draft instead of just hammering value that you will try to trade and repackage (and perceived value at that to be honest). I do think the 'win now' vs. 'productive struggle' perspectives is a false choice. I like Daniel's idea of having a variety of career arcs, and am a big advocate of trying to have an ascendant corps of young players for the next 3-5 years, but also fill the back end of the roster with undervalued vets or bit players that out perform ADP vis-a-vis league format (like Jakobi Meyers in PPR). This is easier with deep rosters than shallow ones, but I really think you can balance young and old players, its just critical to make sure you are always maintaining a young, ascendant corps while you do.

Chuba was a huge disappointment to me. I didn't expect him to catch the ball but did expect him to be a much better rusher than he showed if he got a chance to start at all during the season. JAG, roster clogger is more likely than a viable future starter.

I think the NE situation being over-crowded will depress prices on Strong and K Harris, which I will gladly gobble up. Keaontay is better than Eno and Connor lasting another full season is iffy at best. Going to be fun to draft with you guys, I need to get off my ass and set things up!

Chris Olave getting a huge bump on speed while Garrett Wilson's speed is barely mentioned is a great example of the anchoring bias. Everyone saw that false sub 4.3 get tweeted out and immediately the narrative die was cast. Goddamn there are so many interesting receivers this year.
