Can you explain the difference between the sub driver 2.0 and this one ? Because i was the other day at the store and it looks that the sub driver has a fuller nose so maybe for smaller waves compared to the stub 3.0
@catalystsurfshop56283 ай бұрын
While very similar on the surface, the Sub Driver does have a touch wider nose and more of a hip in front of the front foot. Also, the sub driver features a v off the tail where the stub driver does not have v off the tail, but rather a continuous deeper concave throughout to add lift. Either board will work for performance surfing in small/average surf.

Thank you for the informative videos. I do notice that there’s no V out the back… I guess that will essentially just make the board more stable and predictable…? And without the V, and to compensate for more of that stability and loosen up the board there is the continuous rocker… I am assuming yet still, the board might be more stable overall than a sub driver 2.0 with the V out the back… Do you think this will be the case? Essentially, I’m just looking for a board that is good for a small waves, that is high performance is stable/predictable overall but loosens when on the tail. I am a front footed surfer for the most part. Thanks 🤙🏻
@matty90944 ай бұрын
Think you’re on track with those assumptions. The big difference IMO between the 3.0 and 2.0 is the rocker profile. The driver 3.0 and 3.0 stub have more kick in the tail than the 2.0 series. Holding the board in my hands the tail is more pulled in too I think. Those attributes would slow the board down to give it more control in steeper waves, so I think that’s why they took out the vee and made it a double concave - to balance out the rocker and add some speed and looseness since it’s geared towards smaller waves. The result is a really responsive board that should excel for an active surfer in 2-5ft punchy waves. The design approach (performance outline and performance rocker but with lots of concave to counteract it) is very similar to what Sharpeye has been doing for a long time (ie, Disco, Inferno 72)

I'm 5'7 and around 143-145lbs. My normal volume would be around 25l. Not sure whether i go with the 5'6 25l or 5'7 26l. Maybe the first would be more responsive, and the 2nd more as a proper setup. What do you think? I have a groveller, a Sharpeye Cheat Code 5'4 and would want this to cover the good waves.
