I would love to have a written pattern because after making the first pattern repeat I had no idea how I got there and knew that I'd have to watch the video several times to be able to understand the pattern.

Hello Mariette I am knitting on a Lino baby jacket.

I think the most important thing to tell people about this lace edging is that it "grows" sideways! It is the only pattern you don't need to know the final length of, to make your base chain! You grow it by completed motif, which lands the crochet hook exa tly where it needs to be to make the bext one! -- I crocheted a more primitive version of it (i had found the pattern in a magazine where a woman had found vintage instructions for this that had been written when America was still a colony of England, and certainly, no standardized shorthand was known or used for the stitches! She was determined to make it gappen, so she guessed at what was meant, over and over, until she got it to work! I was relieved, because i had sewn an ivory dupioni silk wedding dress (underluned and lined!), for which i had also made a chiffon with gold netting vest, that draped into the train. It had an Elizabethan stand-up collar, and that needed a gold metallic lace trim from the waist, around the collar, and back down to the waist. Even measuring it wouldnt have given me the actual length! I was still crocheting on the plane to the UK! I like your version better, because the single crochet, two dc, followed by another single, over and over, make for a more solid "flower petal" silhouette than the one i was using had, which was simply picots on that return trip. It was pretty, but i do like yours better! Thank you! -- One comment about some people who would like you to slow it up -- i remember having known exactly what to do and just doing it, but since i haven't, even with experience i wasn't able to follow along. I might have to repeat watch with stopping and writing down what you say? I think for the people with perceptual problems this might have been nearly impossible to follow, and they truly loved it so much! I do hope they have it now. It IS such a useful trim, growing to the length one needs it! Thank tou!
