Ah you’re lucky! My ‘65 had a dropped valve seat so the head had to come apart and be replaced. Does that dash sticker say that this hasn’t been on the road since ‘98??!

Do you find cork valve cover gaskets to actually work? Are they siliconed or glued as well?

sounds awesome. Van engines don't get nearly as big here in Europe, but I had a little van with a N/A 1.9d made by Citroen, and one day the whole exhaust just fell off...rusted through where the exhaust levels out under the engine so turned it into a screamer pipe, damn thing sounded like it had a V12 Merlin from a Spitfire. Hilarious. Wish I got it on video...

I grew up in a die hard dodge house. Grandpa, uncle, and dad all have 12v Cummins. My first diesel was a LB7 Duramax and it treated me well but I got bored and really didn’t want to get that injector bill one day so I traded it for a rust free 150,000mile 92’ 7.3 IDI with a 94’ turbo and drove it 7 hours back home, had bad fuel leaks but manage to limp it home. With no experience with these trucks and some hick ingenuity I was able to clear up all leaks and got her to run very healthy. For the most part very easy motor to work on and simple to diagnose at home. Not a single regret with this truck fell inlove instantly

Damn Dude. I love your truck. That is one of the cleanest interiors for a '90s truck I've seen in a long time. Dash is not all messed up like so many. I just got my 94 250 turbo IDI out of paint and body and wow, after new grill, bumper, lights, and mirrors that bad boy looks fly. It ran so good when I bought it with a nice interior I figured it was worth the $$$ to do paint and body, even a new bed. But now I've got this problem with it runs great for a few miles ten feels like it's running out of gas, then stalls. After cranking it fires back up but does the same thing all over again. Put a new fuel pump on it hoping that would solve the problem, but it's doing the same thing. Have you ever had that problem? My first diesel ever so am a newbie to them. Still scratching my head. Did you ever have that problem? You sound like you know a lot more about these IDI's then I ever will.

Man I miss my old truck, it was a zf5 swapped bull nose with an 093 kit. Now I have a bullnose quad cab with a 085 and c6.

When the EMP’s start going off this truck will still start it will probably be a bit warmer outside too🙀

I get the impression on every IDI video that it's like looked down upon to have an IDI or something. Subaru's have been my car hobby for years and I've just started getting into trucks and after a ton of research these seam the most badass to me😆

My dad has a ford 91’ f-350 n/a 7.3idi, I love the truck. The sound, the old school low end torque. Great truck! I plan on Surprising him with a turbo kit. Anyways, love the video man. Keep making content.

Good job on the stuck valve. That's an indication that gas sat in the intake plenum long enough to varnish up and freeze the valve stem to the guide. That may also be a clue to the idle issue (varnish partially restricting an idle circuit). Of the close to 100 corvair carbs I have rebuilt, there have been probably 5 or so that, despite my best efforts, I have not been able to get to idle correctly. Jeff Williams at California Corvair does a great job rebuilding carbs. If you don't want to keep dancing with your current carbs, it might be a good idea to buy at least one rebuilt carb from CA corvair and play musical carbs. Also, I've found corvairs idle can be sensitive to timing. Sometimes a difference of a couple degrees can be the difference between idling correctly and bad idle. Good luck. I'll be interested to hear what corrects the idle issue.

Not a bad idea to replace the lines. If you elect to clean the long one from the tank to the engine compartment, I'd incorporate a filter before the engine compartment. Those carburetors should have sintered metal filters in the fuel inlets. May as well replace them. Save headaches by loosening the big hex on each, while still mounted to the intake logs.

Check your fuel pump diaphragm!! If it fails, it can leak fuel into the engine compartment, creating a fire hazard or allow fuel to fill the crank case, which will ruin your oil.
