Southwestern Virginia’s Floyd Country Store and its Handmade Music School are year-round operations (see their websites), with oldtime, Bluegrass, folk and country music on stage five or six days a week, oldtime and bluegrass jam sessions on Sundays, and even a sidewalk outside constructed to create wide jam spaces for folks who would rather strum a few chords of their own on Friday evening as a break from that crowded Dance Floor indoors at the Friday Night Jamboree. The school provides classes for young and old and long-weekend camp-out workshops with local & nationally known performers and teachers like Foghorn String Band from the Northwest, Jake Blount from the Northeast and Alice Gerard from North Carolina. (Just listing google-able folks I've had classes with.) A few miles away, but still in Floyd County, Fiddlin' Earl White has his summer "Fiddlers' Jam" at Big Indian Farm & Bakery, drawing hundreds of great musicians from as far as California and Australia. Google him too! And the Junior Appalachian Musicians program has spread from county to county around Southwestern Virginia and neighboring states to "pass it along." I hope this whole scene Inspires more communities to look at their own musical roots ... or plant some!

Squeegee can do all of this. Why do you need that roller? What we need is something that absorbs the remaining water that the Squeegee can't push out.

This is so American - all in a good, great way. The Scot-Irish culture, music and dance in Appalachia IS alive and never left these WV and VA mountain towns and cities because it fit so well and is naturally compelling. The Celtic and Scot is everywhere here, grows and flourishes BECAUSE it is true to the uniquely hard-learned lessons of life and living of their generations spent here that surely has stood the test of time and now remains a touchstone with America's great ancestors, special because they created and maintained this new American culture, conveying the best ideas, values and lifestyles that they had and we know, (and flourish with) today as all-American. It is a great achievement, social resiliency over times of great competitive challenges and alternatives, that merits acknowledgment as such; distinction as generally a great way to live in America.

PVA rollers are worthless the get lumpy and flop along after few short months, foam rollers work much better and last 4 times as long.
@leakedclipsdaily6 ай бұрын
For pushing out the water? I agree a flat foam roller would be better. Howabout something to absorb the water to speed up the drying process?
