Daiwa is usually underrated for max drag. Shimano is mostly overrated by 2kg. People who don't use a preset drag of 12kg don't understand this. On 6k reels with a max drag of 12kg, I never purchase a Shimano. Even on a Saragosa 10k with 15kg drag, it's about 12.5 to 13kg max. The craziest reel I ever tested was a 6k Daiwa Phantom Hyper reel. It produced 17kg of drag on average after 5 pulls. The highest being 19kg. Usually, not many people can hold 15kg of drag very long, but when you go for big kings, a 10-12kg preset drag is a must to turn their heads. Even then, sometimes some monsters keep turning the drag

Hi, can use this 7'3" for jigging (light or medium jigging) rather than 5'5"-14 that for heavy jigging?

for light jigging up to 60gr. Jigs it should work fine.

What size reel are you using with the 7'3? How do you think a Saltiga 6k or Stella SW 6k would match up?
@amfromch

i use the Stella SW5000 on this rod. Way enough braking power and light for long time casting. SW6000 is in my meaning to big/heavy for this rod.

I’m going to try my luck with an Arapaima using that rod on a fishing trip to Brazil next month. I’m just curious as to how well it will hold up to a high torque generating fish like that.

the rods have different Max drag weight , the daiwa will bend similar to zenaq at higher weight , with the same weight the bending action will differ !
@amfromch
@amfromch 8 ай бұрын
the bending action will not change with more ore less weight. Do you have a link, where Zenaq and Daiwa state the max. drag for this two rods?
@amirzenga5723
@amirzenga5723 8 ай бұрын
@@amfromch i do not have links but this is defenetly true, a max drag of 2.34m PE 10 rod will not be as the same as a 2.52m PE 6 rod ...i expect 16kg for daiwa and 12 kg drag max on the zenaq . i invite you to repete the experience by using 11 kg test on zenaq and 15 kg on daiwa and you will see the results .

It seems that Daiwa is much vulnerable for breakage, if you increase the weight, while Zenaq tends to work with the whole blank, not only the front parts. I would choose Zenaq of course, and this comparison is not at a same level. Zenaq is a high- end rod, and should be compared with his rivals from Ripple Fisher for example. Daiwa is most suited to be compared to its rival from Shimano, they are not high-end rods😊
@amfromch
@amfromch 8 ай бұрын
Shimano has no Travel Rods in this price segment. Only the Beastmaster STC Rods, but they are less than half the price of the Daiwa Saltiga Series. The Daiwa Saltiga is half the price of a ZENAQ, but the most expensive Travel Rod iin the Daiwa Program. You are absolutly right, that other makes like Ripple fisher copmared better to the ZENAQ..... but i only can compare what i have by my own in my sortiment. The Daiwa Saltiga is my backup if the ZENAQ dies out on the sea.
