Problem with Gearwrench is that so often they shift production to China and the product just isn’t as well executed nor consistent. And the sockets I think can be made in either China or Taiwan. At least the Icon is Taiwan made.

I have both pliers and without a doubt, the Knipex is a better design and more careful manufacturing. -I bought the Channellock GL several years after using the Knipex to test them seeing their moderate price and brand prestige. -I could never get a good feel for that 10" GripLock clamp, it only has 5 adjustments versus 9 for the Knipex, which allows me to adjust the best opening for my hand and apply enough force, which I can't do with the GripLock. -It seems to me that the handles of the GL are narrower than the Knipex and bother the palm more when applying force. -The GL has a lot of play in the jaws compared to the Knipex. -It seems to me that the GL is made of. a strong steel; it has a medium price and a strong grip of the jaws on the piece is achieved, but it is a design that was already surpassed by European manufacturers years ago in terms of quality and performance. -Channellock hired someone to make beautiful and attractive packaging for his pliers, but when you unpack them and look at them carefully you can see that it is an old design that is not at the level of Knipex. -Use Chanellock, a transparent varnish to prevent corrosion, but it falls off quickly. -I think you should use another coating and even chrome like they do on similarly priced pliers like those low and medium priced from Stanley and Craftsman.

Gatorade tells me everything i need to know about your aptitude for tools. And i also saw on several of your sockets, you rolled it off the fastener while torquing it. Because only one corner would be bent. If it was bad metal all six flats would have damage. If its one corner you arent competent enough to turn a concentric circle and you roll the socket off under tension....... mechanicking 101.

Great looking ports! What you said about ports makes sense. I've seen SBC heads that were so hogged out that the center dividers between the intake ports were paper thin. There was hardly any sealing surface.
@peterchristlieb2 ай бұрын
That was common practice years ago and from different perspectives it sometimes worked and sometimes didn’t. There were a ton of manifolds built for small blocks like that including the small 53 series blower intakes. I had the honor and privilege of knowing and working with and for some great minds in racing. Porting is like picking a cam, ask the same question to 10 people and get 7 or 8 different answers . Rule #1. “Never remove or destroy the short side radius” Rule #2. “You don’t pick up airflow from places it’s easy to put the grinder” Rule #3. Making the hole bigger won’t flow more air if you l can’t get it to go around the corner without stalling.

@@peterchristlieb A friend recently told me about an issue with a poor running Formula 5000 engine his friend ran into. It's an aluminum 302 SBC with Kinsler FI. The engine wouldn't idle below 1600 RPM and would overheat after 5 laps around Lime Rock. The owner of the car is in his 70s and has a race shop store, maintain and transport the car to the track. The support clown they sent topped off the water and told him to stay out of traffic. I was told that the heads have been heavily ported and the dividers are vey thin. The clowns thought the injection system was at fault. They sent the whole system to Kinsler. Kinsler reported that they could find nothing wrong. Engine still wasn't right. Turns out one of the geniuses at this shop forgot the intake manifold gasket on one bank.

Since this video has been out, I believe EC has been listening (Not to me or because of this video) and folks have come to the same conclusion about the roller. They’ve redesigned the business end with larger wheels to contact the valve tip. You might save a few dollars by going with the little red ones, especially if you’re running a cast head and you won’t run into any alignment trouble.

Love the kitties😂. I'm new to this mini bike hobbie. I built muscle car engines and I'm familiar with the roller rockers and I just can't get over how ONLY TWO roller rockers cost almost three hundred bucks at Go Power Sports and I can buy a way stronger better roller rocker for the same price for my 350 chevy and I get 16 of them instead of TWO. Something isn't right with this picture. There's no reason why they should cost that much. Thank you for your video sir it's VERY informative.

This 224 is set up just like my 212 except the cam is a 246 duration and .272 lift. The 212 has a mod2 cheater cam with similar duration and stock lift. Both have stamped 1.3 rockers and 26 lb springs

I had a set of Snap-on mid length sockets that I used quite a bit. When I was working at the dealership there were no Cornwell dealers in my area. I always wanted a Cornwell flex head ratchet. I prefer the ball detent over the v notch. Where I am now there was a Cornwell dealer but he retired a couple years ago. I need another set of mid length sockets. I was going to get the ICON but after hearing that the chrome peels I think I'll look for a better option.
@peterchristlieb4 ай бұрын
The Icon are hit and miss. They might be just fine, a perfect replica of the snap on or they might be junk. Either way it’s only $40 or so. The Cornwell to me was more about just having some real Ohio Made Sockets as they are getting kinda rare.
@peterchristlieb4 ай бұрын
@MLieser Capri and Sunex both have mids for sale in the same price range as the Icon. They are impact sockets but both on the thin side and Sunex has a 12 point option. I have multiple tool boxes so I’ve got them and use them all pretty regular. The Capri set is on a tray between Sunex shallow and deep. The mids all show a little wear and tear while there are still some unused shallows and deeps after about a year in my socket drawer.
