Man, I miss the 12 Rods! I learned so much by listening to Separation Anxieties, and the hybrid mixing of electronic and acoustic drums. Dave wrote me back once, when I asked him several questions on his approach and the tracks he recorded. I always loved Bill's bass playing and the old mint colored Fender P-Bass...

I am 99% sure your example is not what arranging is. that's what producing is, like a director of a film they make global decisions. But arranging is about using different instrumentation and making choices of which instruments play which notes and when... You can also make solo arrangements but it's the same process of finding creative ways to have the song played.

Thanks for the video. I think the K8.2's and K10.2's are very special....best little PA speakers around. K12.2's are good, but they don't WOW me. And their dispersion is only 75 degrees (90 for K10; 105 for K8). I do small venue and festival sound for mostly acoustic bands, as well as perform myself. I started with 3 K8.2's (2 mains, 1 monitor). Worked great for solo, duo, trio. With bigger acts showing up on my stages, I decided to add 1 K8.2 and 2 CP8's. Now I run 4 K8.2's as mains, and 2 CP8's as monitors. I have a T atop my main poles, so I can swivel inside speakers in, and outside speakers straight ahead or out. With 210 degrees of dispersion on both sides of the stage, my audiences get great clear sound no matter where they sit. 90% of the time, bass drums & bass players w amps will produce plenty of thump from stage w/o much PA support. Occasionally, a bass w/o amp or a stomp box will have to put with a thinner thump than they'd like -- but frankly way too many shows have way too much low end -- masking the detail of the mids and highs and robbing the audience of clear lyrics. At the end of the show, I get nothing but compliments from musicians and crowds alike. The CP8's make fabulous monitors. The whole system is compact and super versatile. I can dial up center or satellite spkrs, or more monitors. I might someday add a single sub, but for now I keep getting asked to 'return next time' and folks are very happy with what they hear. I'm thrilled with QSC and with digital wireless mixing. Granted, I'm not trying to handle loud rock bands -- but for most everything else, this little system does a spectacular job.

Thanks man! I picked up a cab and the back plate said 8 ohms. I opened the can and realized the back plate was wrong. The speakers were 12” not 10 like the back plate said. After more research it looks like the cab is actually 16 ohms. I was wondering if I did any damage having it plugged into the 8 ohm output, Thanks
@bretfuzz9253 ай бұрын
As he indicated, have the speaker load impedance be >= the amplifier output impedance setting and it is fine. I always recommend purchasing an ohm meter and measuring the cabinet if there is a question and disassembly is not performed. Keep in mind, the ohm meter is measuring the dc resistance of the voice coils which is almost always slightly less than the true ac impedance. Even the ac impedance of a speaker varies over frequency.

Marshall JCM 900 head {4100} 8 ohm spot on the back switch. Two cabinets hooked up with the first speaker cable going into the right side of the jack-plate in the 16 ohm hole. The same on the second cab. Make sure your mono\stereo switch is on the MONO setting. Two speaker cables out of the head, from each 'speaker out' jack, to each 16 ohm cabinet. This is pretty much all you need to know to run a full stack in a healthy way. This video was the best I've seen it explained, wish I could've seen it in 1981.
