I thought this tune was just studio magic. Never thought it is reproducible by human hands on live stage.

I was fortunate to have had front row seats and allowed to shoot with my Panasonic Lumix pocket size camera. Jeff played the song just a few feet away from me & my better half. I've been a fan for 50 years !

This kind of thing is why I switched from the harmonica to the Melodica. It sounds prettier.
@bilbowaggins303611 ай бұрын
I like it better too, but harmonica has it beat when it comes to those tasty bends for the blues. Melodica is better for pretty much every other genre though in my opinion, although I do love the convenience of a small instrument like a harmonica that fits in my pocket......both are great 😅
@Themaddprof11 ай бұрын
@@bilbowaggins3036 actually, blues can be played on the Melodica, and I've done some tongue bending while blowing and vibrato on the keys. While not exactly Sonny Terry, the effect is similar to what Junior Walker did on the tenor sax.
@bilbowaggins303611 ай бұрын
@@Themaddprof of course it can be played on a melodica, and yes you can bend notes a bit on melodicas, but not full half step bends or more like on a harmonica, you also cant get the hand techniques on melodica that you can on a harmonica. I'm not sure how you're bending notes with your tongue on a melodica considering the mouth is too far from the reeds to do that with every melodica I've seen. The standard way of bending on a melodica involves having a key pressed down, then letting up ever so slightly so it's like half way pressed down while increasing air pressure. Anyways, I like both instruments a lot. I just think harmonica is better suited for the blues.....it's my opinion. It doesnt mean you can't play great blues on the melodica though!

I was fortunate to see Jeff Beck 15 times, including his last tour in 2022 with Johnny Depp. He was my all time favorite guitarist as well as musician. I am still in disbelief he has died, it hurts me as much as when my Mom died. #RIPJeffBeck #GOATGuitarist #ICON

The Nightflyers are unlike the other bands Fagen has performed with lately, as they're all in their 20s. The band features Connor Kennedy (guitar, vocals), Lee Falco (drums, vocals), Brandon Morrison (bass, vocals), Will Bryant (keyboards, vocals), and Zach Djanikian (saxophone, vocals).

As a singer & musician since the 1980's & a huge fan of Led Zeppelin I recognize Robert Plant's change in style to the bizarre Egyptian styled adaptations that sound nothing like the original hard Rock versions we all fell in love with as an intentional compensation for his damaged vocal cords lowering the key to all his Zeppelin songs & changing the melodies to avoid the intense multi octave sweeping highs he no longer can reach. The drastic change in style is to avoid comparison with his original vocals that we all remember & would immediately compare his now impaired limited range to. Being a professionally trained singer/musician with degrees in Music & near expert level in vocal injuries that singers regularly encounter along with their treatments & ramifications I know all the background & consequences of Robert Plant's improper vocal techniques that sounded spectacular in performance but unfortunately caused hemorrhaging & subsequent scar tissue to the vocal cords in 1972 when pushing them too hard while very sick when they were already inflamed.
