How much did you have to pay for an e upgrade to business class?
@theglobalpeasant

This is a good question. Air Canada outlines the cost for eupgrade based on distances and class booked. I forget the exact amount, I think about 20 credits plus $500.

Hello, I just wanted to thank you because I am going to be taking this exact bus tomorrow! I have been very nervous about it and since I have a lot of allergies I am glad that this bus will calm my nerves. I have bladder issues so I will have to wear diapers but that is okay! My wife and kids are not coming with me since they like trains but I have a phobia for them. Thank you for this video I am looking forward to sleep and enjoy the trip!

Good perspective! At the end of the day it comes down to the almighty dollar...in this case VA won out. The Max with its increased range is used for many longer flights and is designed for these longer flights in mind. What airlines do with the interior is up to them.

It’s business class for their narrow-body aircraft (which they sometimes sell as premium economy when the aircraft flies trans-Atlantic)

Michael is absolutely correct. As sold as business, passengers get lounge access, 150% millage, etc. I've never done trans-atlantic single aisle, so I'll take your word for it!

This is a good question. You have to check (on the ANA website) the aircraft particulars for a given flight...if booking with another *A carrier (like I did), you have to look for the same timing and aircraft.

For shorter routes like this one, the bus is a great option. When I took the bus to Calgary from Edmonton March this year, I paid 25C$ for the ticket (one way) and that includes free wifi, 1 personal item and 1 luggage. While going by plane would cost an average 80C$ and only includes one personal item and of course no free wifi. Including the time it takes to get to the airport, the fact you need to be there at least an hour earlier, and so on. The trip time from Downtown Edmonton to Downtown Calgary is almost the same by bus or airplane. I am from Brazil so I am used to travelling by bus on even 10 hours-long journeys due to how pricy is flying there. So the 4 hours from Edmonton to Calgary is very chill. I wish I could see more options between Edmonton and Jasper / Banff. In March I took my trip on Rider Express, and contrary to all the complaints the bus I took was very clean, arrived on time and we had a 20-minute stop at tim hortons which was great and the price was unbeatable. 3 times cheaper than taking an airplane.
@theglobalpeasant
@theglobalpeasant 19 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yes I saw many poor reviews of rider express, but I'll look into it maybe next year. It's nice to hear the contrast from the bus in Brazil.

Welcome to Australia! VA is my airline of choice and I fly with them and SQ (partner airline) frequently. So Virgin Australia are undergoing a fleet renewal program with updated cabin interiors that will include in seat power for both economy and business class. The refurbishment is expected to be completed sometime in 2025. They do class themselves as a hybrid airline somewhere between full service and low cost. I would agree with that as they have elements of both but it seems to work well and as a predominantly domestic carrier, is absolutely fine for the market. As this is the first video I've seen of yours, I'll have to look and see if you've flown Qantas as I'd be interested to see your thoughts as a comparison. Cheers! 😊

Thanks for the added info. It sounds like VA is much like WestJet which is between low cost and full service (I'm not too fond of this model tbh, at least not in Canada) I haven't flown with Qantas yet... it's on my list.. looking forward to visiting Australia again! Cheers!

Its great this bus exists, but its rough this is what we have to settle for back home vs regular or high speed rail. I'm out in Tohoku near Yamagata and I can get from around nearby cities all the way to Sendai via trains. Maybe when Canada's population grows we will see more options!

Sadly it has nothing to do about pop growth! Canada had a solid train system in the 1900's and much of the track remains today. While Japan was building their rail system from 1945 onwards, we dealt with govt cutback after cutback. (I think the rabbit hole goes deeper and has a connection with US auto and gas lobbyists of the day). Nonetheless we see little revision now of rail service in the country. Shinkansen is fantastic!

Porter works well when things work well but if for any reason you are delayed and your flight gets canceled you can forget about going home before 3-4 days. They are simply not equipped to handle bad weather
@theglobalpeasant
@theglobalpeasant 25 күн бұрын
Inclement weather is part of the game unfortunately. They don't have a large fleet as compared to ws and ac. That being said, be sure to familiarize with what rights you have as a passenger that legislation allows. Hopefully these occurrences are far and few between.

Was on this a year ago. Second worst flight other than sitting at the bottom of a A380. Worst seat ever, worst aircrew, I was on an international leg and it had food included but they lost my info, were very rude and asked me to double pay or starve. I chose the latter. Instant coffee yuck! A year earlier I flew Jetstar Narita - Cairns and the Dreamliner is so much nicer and the food was good and it was more quiet. At least Narita has direct to city connections.

Great review. I fly to Canada frequently...but I would fly to NYC via SQ and hop over rather than flight via AC direct. My knock on AC business is that there is restricted feet space and the bed is very narrow. SQ long haul bed is much much wider and way more comfortable. But the worst part is that ACs soft products is miss and hit. I have had cabin crew that are super friendly and showed that he loved their job. But more often then not, AC business crew showed that they can't be bothered. On the contrary, SQ cabin crew is always consistent so you know what your getting.
