How did you butt-up the rockwool to the existing brick? We're looking to do something similar. Cheers

Have never heard of a window buck. Thank you for sharing this video. The Blue Skin looks really good.

As long as it does not damage anything, there is no such thing as overkill with insulation.

'Incredible overkill' 3:23 seems to be an understatement. I am impressed by your quality standard, but at the same time can't help thinking you may need therapy.... Outside or wet environment boxes... OK, but conditioned air interiors ??? I am now very curious what percentage of plastic receptacle boxes are sealed with putty. I would be amazed if it was more than 10%.

So when did they send out the crew of pick up carpenters, hopefully before you issued Payment. Lol.

How did you get the window sills to be flesh the exterior insulation?
@koogle612 Жыл бұрын
Hope they flash over the insulation onto those bucks which I would also waterproof as this is a really critical detail.

Once screws and or nails penetrate thru. it’s air and moisture performance is compromised not self sealing
@tcranston2 жыл бұрын
VP 100 is self sealing, self gasketing, so no vapor/air/water can penetrate.
@BostonMark2 жыл бұрын
@@tcranston NOT self sealing. It’s a thin permeable piece of plastic with an adhesive backing Sample a piece …poke a nail thru it leave the nail then drape it over a Pail 🪣. Add water 💦.

Looking good did you cavity rock behind the brick veneer also. Going back 10 years or so Hammer & Hand pioneered strapping on top of Rockwool with adjusting screws to get it flat

With a house that is sealed as tight as that one they will have a hard time getting a fireplace to draft. The fireplace might be sealed up and just ornamental.

So awesome, Ia loving the plan and the original floors. Underground wires are also such a great plan and will add to the look of the time when the house was built.

I prefer the lighter yellow and the lighter grey...but that's my 2 cents
@philscott58902 жыл бұрын
A general comment. The colors in place when you purchased the original house were circa 1950-60. I remember the house prior to that time as being much lighter. Mostly wallpaper, I believe, in a nondescript cloudlike pattern. Woodwork was a very subtle grey. You probably never came across the original woodwork, as Aunt Millicent and Bro spent countless hours, over many years, scraping the original paint off prior to applying their paint selection.

Both choices in living room appear very dark. Prefer the yellow on the left. Colors are HIGHLY personal, however.

I think we found 4 colors that we can cross off the list. Maybe I'll change my mind in the light of day, but I doubt it!

Good morning Dusty. Thanks for sharing the updates. It looks like it is coming along nicely. I know you have had to deal with setbacks and shortage and pricing and yet you and your family are closing in on the finish line. It is also nice to see some of the original items back on the house. Keep up the good work.
